Hi Bunni, I'm wondering if your problem could be heat related. Is your computer a laptop or a desktop?

Do you hear alot of fan noise before it shuts down, or even worse, no fan noise!

If you're happy to go inside the case, then check for dust and cobwebs, etc. I'd also suggest downloading Speccy. This will tell you more about your temperatures. See link below.

Note: Only click the Download Now (3.45MB) link.

Please get back to us as to how you get on.

I thought I knew today...I'll try again tomorrow. :)

Thank you PSE, we have had a look at the fans, they all seem ok... have tried it again with the case open, and the fans dont seem to change at all... it just goes off.

My first impression would point to inefficient fan, but since you said that it is perfectly ok, I think that your PC is getting more work than the way it is designed to handle.

Which brings up the point.

What is your computer or computer specs?

Perhaps Lexmark is onto something.

Hi, one thing we can try to see if there are any error messages, is to go into safe mode, to do so reboot and as soon as the machine starts tap F8 or DEL, an options page opens first.

Using the up and down keys select "Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure" then click the enter key, the computer should start up as normal but when it shuts down on its own, it should then display a page with the fault or error codes.

Let us know if that works and what error codes are displayed.

Nev.
