Guest OriginalRust Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 I have recently installed service pack 3 for windows XP and it seems to be working fine. I'm having a problem docking my Ipod. I get an error message; "Ipod's service module has encountered a problem and needs to close". Thats as far as I get. I went into control panel/administrative tools/computer management/device manager and when I highlite device manager I have a blank screen on the right side showing no devices. HELP!! -- OriginalRust
Guest Kelly Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Re: no device manager options in administrative tools/computer managem Go to Start/Administrative Tools/Services. Scroll down to Plug and Play Service and stop and restart it. Once done the Device Manager will populate again. -- All the Best, Kelly (MS-MVP/DTS&XP) Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm SupportSpace http://www.supportspace.com/pages?aiu=kellyskorner "OriginalRust" <OriginalRust@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6DCF8655-C832-475F-9944-BF23264119AE@microsoft.com... >I have recently installed service pack 3 for windows XP and it seems to be > working fine. Guest OriginalRust Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Re: no device manager options in administrative tools/computer man Re: no device manager options in administrative tools/computer man I found plug and play and the start and stop option was not highlighted so I right clicked plug and play and disabeled it, then enabled it to open automatic. It did not work, still nothing in device manager. -- OriginalRust "Kelly" wrote: > Go to Start/Administrative Tools/Services. Scroll down to Plug and Play > Service and stop and restart it. Guest Kelly Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Re: no device manager options in administrative tools/computer man Re: no device manager options in administrative tools/computer man For Pro Go to Start/Run and type in: mmc /a. Go to File and choose Add/Remove Snap-in. Click Add then scroll down to Device Manager, Add. Save it to devmgmt.msc in %windir%\system32. Added info: To extract: Go to Start/Run/CMD and type in the command below: (Substitute C and D accordingly). C:\>extract d:\i386\devmgmt.ms_ c:\windows\system32 \devmgmt.msc where d: is your CD rom Drive with your windows XP CD. Whatever your CD rom drive letter is then substitute it in the command line. Or: Restore the Device Manager (Line 107) Right hand side http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm -- All the Best, Kelly (MS-MVP/DTS&XP) Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm SupportSpace http://www.supportspace.com/pages?aiu=kellyskorner "OriginalRust" <OriginalRust@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:61DCC5D3-CABC-4003-B22C-D31BADD133ED@microsoft.com... >I found plug and play and the start and stop option was not highlighted so >I > right clicked plug and play and disabeled it, then enabled it to open > automatic.
