Hi and help please

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help.

We had to have the electric switched off for about 15 mins earlier today. I didnt think about shutting down the PC and now it starts but the screen wont and the keyboard is dead too. Any ideas what I can do to fix the problem? I've swithed it off and back on but obviously thats what caused the problem in the first place so as expected there's no difference.

Hi and welcome :)

 

If you get anything at all on screen try this:

 

Switch on then start tapping F8 about once per second.

You should get the Advanced Startup Menu appear.

Select "Last Known Good Configuration".

 

I know you said the keyboard is dead - but it is worth a try.

 

If you are using a USB keyboard try a PS2 ( round plug ) if you can get hold of one.

 

When you switch on - do you get any beeps?

Thanks for answering. The screen has the LG logo and then a small square that says power saving mode and then goes blank. There are no noises at all. I'll try the F8 but like you say the keyboard isnt responding at all, no lights from the Cap lock or Num lock.

Is this a desktop or laptop?

If desktop are there any lights on the case? If not, have a look at the back, some power supplies have a switch, check this is on, also some do have a small screw in fuse, check that as well.

If there are lights coming on, let us know, and which lights they are if possible.
