Guest Jim Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 I would appreciate someone responding to this post. Can anyone explain to me why a NEW account that has 'Administrator' privileges not be able to view videos in IE7 the same as the Administrator account? My problem appeared unexpectedly. I previously had an account that had 'Admin' privileges, and then all of a sudden I was unable to view videos in IE7. I tried all of the various suggestions offered by Adobe (uninstall Flash, run sublnACL, etc.) without success. Totally disgusted, I created a new account with 'Admin' privileges. After moving files and settings as outlined in various KB articles, I had SUCCESS; but only for ONE day. Upon logging into IE7 the next day, I was presented with the same problem I originally had; not being able to view video, and not being able to download files from the Internet. I've done all of the things that might be suggested; virus scans, spyware scans, deleting temp files, deleting history files from IE (weren't that many for one day) etc. and still no joy. The irony is, I can run IE7 from the new account as 'Administrator' and everything works great. I can log into the Administrator account and everything works great! The problem is, I can run IE in my new account and have it display videos or download files. One would think that if there were a block in the firewall, it also would affect the Administrator account as well, so I have ruled that out. I am at wits end as to why this continues to happen. Is there something about my original account that causes a problem (since I copied all of my settings, etc.), or does one really have 'Administrator' privileges when they become a member of the Administrators group? I really would appreciate someone shedding some light as to what is going on here. This is driving me crazy. (Privacy | Main tab | Mobile Code Control | Custom). If the option "Block mime-type integrated objects" is checked, un-check it. If this doesn't apply, have you tried downloading/running videos in another browser to see if it has the same problem? -- Nightowl
Guest Jim Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Re: Please read and respond Nightowl, Thanks for your reply. Your suggestion is only available to those that own ZoneAlarm Pro or ZoneAlarm Security Suite. I am using a registered version of ZoneAlarm Anti-virus. The irony is, I was able to surf earlier today and see videos, but in the middle of viewing one it just stopped and the area where the video frame (on YouTube) reside went blank. I just logged off. Have not returned to see if the situation is still the same or not; it comes and goes! Driving me crazy. Again, thanks for the suggestion. -- Jim "What we know is minuscule to what we don't know..."

Just what websites are involved when the video viewing issues occur? Do these sites requre unique logons? Were these logons "automated", that is the computer providing the stored logon name and password? The direction I am going is that the problem is not with administrator privileges but with the logon name with the administrator privileges. When the new account was created, was the user profile copied to the new user? (I presume that the original user profile is "Administrator". Creating a new user or logon also generates a new "default" profile.
Guest Jim Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Re: Please read and respond GHalleck, Thanks for your reply. I did make a mistake in the original post, which was corrected in the subsequent reply post by me: Correction: The problem is, I can NOT run IE in my new account and have it display videos or download files. When the new user account was created, it was created with a different user name but the files in 'Document and Settings\olduser' folder were copied from my original corrupted account that was an 'Admin' account with the exception of NTUser.dat and NTUser.ini. The old corrupted account and the new corrupted account both have 'Admin' privilege. My next step is to check all of the settings in the default Administrator account and match them against the new account to see if there are differences. -- Jim "What we know is minuscule to what we don't know..."
