Can anyone recommend a program that will reliably read the PSU temperature.

Using PC Wizard 2010 my PSU currently shows 95C and it has been up to 104C. It is usually showing about 90C at idle and rarely less than that. This is the Power/Aux setting - I have tried removing the video card but it s still the same so I am left thinking it is the PSU.

I have been getting random shutdowns, especially when using Flicght simulator X, and assumed it was the PSU causing this. Since I have turned the Cool N Quiet control off I didn't seem to get the shutdowns but now they have started again and late last night the machine was shutting down every ten to fifteen minutes. This morning the computer would not turn on at all, the green power light came on but it didn't go any further - after an hour or so and having checked inside to see what was actually starting in the way of fans etc it decided to come on and is now working again but after starting up the power temperature showed 89C and is now steadily rising again.

Feeling the air being expelled by the PSU then it doesn't really seem to be that hot - hence my question as I don't want to splash out on another PSU unnecessarily.

The CPU is currently showing 46C and that varies between 37C and 57C, occasionally reaching 60C but I have seen it over 70C.

I am using Windows 7 and an AMD Phenom X4 Black edition cpu on a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard in a self built computer- the power supply is 600W - any opinions on if a larger one should be used?

Update - I got so woried about this PSU and didn't want to wreck my motherboard so I went to Maplins and found a G7 Extreme Power 870Watt PSU on offer for £39.99 so I bought it and fitted it.

Guess what the temperature is still reported as 89 to 90C after start up and I monitored the temperature using PC Wizard 2010 whilst loading Flight Sim X, the temperature went to 125C and then back to 90C when I quit Flight Sim.

At least the machine didn't shut down so maybe those sorts of temperatures are OK when the machine is under high load - comments anyone??
