My Computer and My Documents open on double click when using the Desktop

shortcuts but when using the Start menu shortcuts the following error is

displayed:

"The file does not have a program associated with it for performing this

action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."

Also when running a directory from the Run dialog the Open With dialog is

displayed.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

Try this:

Left click the Start button > Right click My Documents > Click Properties.

On the Target tab > Target folder location > Target, the path should be

simillar to that on your desktop (also right click the My Documents icon,

then click properties). If not try clicking the Restore default button or

copy and paste that on the desktop to replace the target path.

That is not the source of the problem nor does it fix anything.

They're unique folders. Because of that the following might not help:

Try the Drive, Directory, and Folder repairs:

Fix File Associations.
