User account not available

I am not sure what to call this or what the trouble is so I will try to

give every detail that I can.

I have two user accounts. Account W, Account P, Both have administrator

status. And up until just this morning both worked fine. User account W

is set up with work related shortcut links, and background on desktop.

User account P is set up with personal links and background on desktop.

This morning my work related user account is somehow not accessible. It

was just fine yesterday. But something happened between the time that I

last logged in yesterday and today that made user account W quit

working. Both user accounts appear on the log in selector screen and I

can log in to either just fine. But the desktop links and background

have all disappeared from User account W. And it seems to be a default

background screen with only a few shared links for all users appearing.

My user account P is unchanged with not apparent problems. When I log

into the user account P and open up the "all users" folder in Windows

Explorer to see if the folder information for User account W has been

somehow deleted, it is still there including all links in the desktop

folder still in place. And all the links appear to be in each respective

desktop folder. But the screen that appears after logging into user

account W does not match what is in the folder of the same name. As I

mentioned it seems to be displaying another user account with default

and a few shared links.

The information in the desktop links folder for User account W is not

being accessed or recognized at log in, even though the desktop folder

for User Account W is still appearing unchanged in Windows explorer.

Re: User account not available

Try doing a system restore to yesterday's date or earlier. If you don't

know how to do a restore, check the help file for details.

Re: User account not available

Ron,

Thank you very much. IT WORKED! It just goes to show how ignorant I am

about windows or computers for that matter. I was not even aware that

there was a systems restore feature like that. Anyhow, it worked. I now

have it back. I was very concerned about this.

Thank you very much.
