kevh Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Hi Everyone GPU has just gone pop! on my old Dell 531 PC at home listed in signature below. It was a 8600GT with 305w psu which was the best at the time without needing extra power connection. Have had a quick look now and seems a Nvidia GT 430 (or maybe even GT 440) would work and give simalar performance to a 9800GT ! Does this sound correct or am i missing something ?? kevh Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) Here is a pic of PSU spec if that helps :) GT430 System Requirements: - PCI Express or PCI Express 2.0-compliant motherboard with one x16 graphics slot - Minimum 300W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 22A) Does 22A requirement mean card wont run ?? Jelly Bean Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Key I would buy a 500 watt PSU babe....... Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
kevh Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Thanks for the reply Jelly , Not sure if I'll get away with 500w as originally told my wife £50 - £60 (low end GPU) should cover the cost of repair!! I'm up to £120 nearly with the 2 items on other post !! :) Do you think the old system will be throttling the new card too much ? Cheers Kev :) Quote Home Pc: Intel i5 - 4460 3.20 ghz 8gb Kingston Hyper-X Fury Dual-DDR3 1600MHz Windows 10 64bit HomeEVGA 960 GTX SSC 2Gb GDDR 5 DX12Corsair VS430watt PSU250GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD24" Benq Led screen Work Pc: Quad Q9550 2.83ghz4gb XMS2 DDR2 800mhzAsus P5QL Mobo Windows 7 PremiumPalit GTS250 1GB ddr3 450watt FSP PSU640Gb WD Caviar Blue HD22" Samsung Lcd (1680x1050)
