Can you pin a new submenu to the Vista (or XP) start menu?

This applies to XP as well as Vista, the solution (if there is one) may

also work for both, that's why I decided to crosspost instead of posting a

separate question for each OS.

I took some screenshots to explain clearer what I'm looking for,

For those who prefer text:

Has someone found a way to add new top-level menus to the start menu, the

way you could in Win2000, and still can in XP and Vista if you switch to

the "classic" start menu?

Use google, type in 'pin folder to start menu'.

It really does work (google that is).

I tried the first and it seems to work but its only a link to open the

folder, it does not produce the drop down list like you indicate.

Hang in, others will respond possible, but in the mean time, maybe a

find on google will help you.

Put your folders and shortcuts here:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

Yes, the screenshots I linked to already showed that "pin to start menu"

works.

They (my screenshots) show you right again: it doesn't do what I asked :(

As for google: thanks for stating the obvious. Do you really think I would

post a question without searching documentation and Google first?

Thanks for replying, but that's the point: that only works if you use the

classic start menu.

I want the menus to appear among the pinned items when you click "Start",

without having to click "All programs" next and then try to find where

they're appearing in the list today.
