Guest Max2006 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Hi Can I assume that the power of an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz is equivalent with four 2.4 GHz CPU? Faster? Slower? It would be great if there is a bench mark that compares a quad core CPU with four SMB CPUs. Thank you, Max

Faster? Slower? That's about it, yes. However, what are you comparing it against? A Core 2 Duo will run circles around a P4 at the same clock speed. There are a few other factors, a multiple-core CPU will tend to have a shared cache of some sort, which if all other things are equal, is an advantage in that a thread moving from one CPU to another won't hit system RAM as often.

If not, no direct comparison would be possible.
