Hi, my daughter has just bought a computer with no operating system on and also separately a monitor. When we are trying to instal Windows XP from a disk that we already own the monitor does not come on and therefore we are not able to carry out the installation. Is there anything that we can do. Sorry if this is a silly question but I have a very moody teenager on my hands. thanks in advance

Hi.

I guess the first thing to check is the basics. Have you pressed the power button? Does the monitor power indicator light come on? Can you try the monitor on a different computer. Can you try a different monitor on the new computer?
