network security and access

Hi

I would like to allow some users of computers in my home network to access

certain folders and to deny other uses.

I have 6 Xp based machines that use wired and wireless connections. I have

a workgroup called MSHOME, my router is dlink DSL G604T.

I have disabled the simple sharing so I can provide different permissions to

users, and that works for users on this machine but I dont know how to do

this for users that will connect from other machines in the network. When I

try to find users to add, I cannot change the location to find their details

from this machine.

For example, one of the machines is called FEGEXP - how can I give a user of

that machine read only access to a folder (say 'DEV') on a machine called

DESKTOP?

Any help appreciated.

Doug

RE: network security and access

Are the workstations all WinXP PRO? or home, the files you want to share out

must be on a PRO PC.
