Guest Brian McGrew Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 OK, I'll be the first to admit I'm not sure this is the right group to put this in and I'm not the worlds foremost Windows expert! I've got a Win2K3 Enterprise (32-Bit) running on a Dell 1400SC server that is a terminal server with 10 licenses in it. Installed is MS Office, FileMaker Pro and a few other very lightweight applications. On another machine I have Win2K3 Enterprise (32-Bit) running a Dell 850 that services RRAS. I just migrated all the RRAS services to this machine about 3 weeks ago because my previous RRAS/VPN server blew up. My clients are loosing connections to the terminal server at random intervals. AFAIK only the RRAS/VPN settings have been changed and not anything on the terminal server. Where would I start looking to track this down??? It's a major hinderance! -brian
Guest Vera Noest [MVP] Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Re: TS 2003 Loosing Connections Sounds to me like the default gateway is changed for everyone as soon as someone connects through the RRAS/VPN connection. Guest Brian McGrew Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Re: TS 2003 Loosing Connections Well, my terminal server has a static IP and does not initiate any outgoing RAS connections nor does it host any incoming RAS connections. The RRAS/VPN is a separate server. In the past it all worked fine and when I moved RRAS/VPN to the new server I made sure all the options were set the same. What else would be good to look at? -brian On 6/17/08 1:56 PM, in article Xns9AC0E95565F1Averanoesthemutforsse@207.46.248.16, "Vera Noest [MVP]" <vera.noest@remove-this.hem.utfors.se> wrote: > Sounds to me like the default gateway is changed for everyone as > soon as someone connects through the RRAS/VPN connection. > > Check this article: > > 242051 - RDP client can lose connection to Terminal Server if > Terminal Server initiates a RAS session to a remote server > http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=242051 > _________________________________________________________ > Vera Noest > MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server > TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net > ___ please respond in newsgroup, NOT by private email ___ > > Brian McGrew <brian@visionpro.com> wrote on 17 jun 2008 in > microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services: > >> OK, I'll be the first to admit I'm not sure this is the right >> group to put this in and I'm not the worlds foremost Windows >> expert! >> >> I've got a Win2K3 Enterprise (32-Bit) running on a Dell 1400SC >> server that is a terminal server with 10 licenses in it. >> Installed is MS Office, FileMaker Pro and a few other very >> lightweight applications. >> >> On another machine I have Win2K3 Enterprise (32-Bit) running a >> Dell 850 that services RRAS. Guest Vera Noest [MVP] Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Re: TS 2003 Loosing Connections Sorry, I misread your first post, thought that you had installed RRAS/VPN on the TS. Maybe a networking group is a better place to post this problem? _________________________________________________________ Vera Noest MCSE, CCEA, Microsoft MVP - Terminal Server TS troubleshooting: http://ts.veranoest.net ___ please respond in newsgroup, NOT by private email ___ Brian McGrew <brian@visionpro.com> wrote on 18 jun 2008 in microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services: > Well, my terminal server has a static IP and does not initiate > any outgoing RAS connections nor does it host any incoming RAS > connections.
