Print Spooler Service Won't Stay Started

When I go to Printers and Faxes I get an error about the

Spooler SubSystem App has encountered an error and

must close...

I'm unable to add any printers or delete any existing printers

(only one listed at the moment - a network printer if that is

important)

If I restart the Print spooler service it doesn't stay started.

The following kb article 324757 doesn't not resolve the

issue. I did notice there were two Windows NT x86

registry keys found here:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\

Why are there two?

There are no Drivers key found below Windows NT x86.

How can I solve this issue of Spooler SubSytem App error?

Thanks.

(XP Pro SP2 32bit)

FWIW, a repair install fixed the issue. Sure would like

to know if there is some other way to solve it.
