Used computer, W98

A CRT-type monitor that came with it showed pink background color in

desktop, screens, etc. I needed to quickly compare another monitor so did

not go into W98 Display Properties to reset colors to my preference.

But when I connected my usual monitor to this (new) computer, it displays

normal (for me) colors.

Question: Display colors are set in the OS AFAIK. I've seen some monitor

problems in past, is this a monitor problem, or otherwise what is going on?

This information suggests damage to the used monitor.

But this can be confirmed only by reconnecting that

monitor and verifying its device drivers, which may

be a waste of time if you do not plan to use this monitor.
