Microphone won't record

Ok, so I did a "microphone" keyword search through here and read the threads

where people have posted having problems with their mics... to no avail.

 

I'm running Windows XP on a Dell. The sound works fine, the mic works on

another Dell.

My SigmaTel driver obviously works, but alas... my microphone somehow is not

picking up sound, and YES it is checked for recording device in the recording

volume bar thing.

But "SigmaTel" is the default recording device in the Audio and Sound

Control Panel window.

 

 

Any help is greatly appreciated!! thanks
