Guest kulamonster Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Ok here is my dilemma, Went to turn on my computer last night and it booted to windows just fine. I was in the middle of a virus scan and spyware scan when the entire computer locked up. Could not get out of it by any means except hitting the power button for 8 sec. (Which I really hate to do!!!) Upon reboot, I received the lovely BSOD 0x00000024...Corrupt NTFS file system. So I was like oh great, just what I need!! Not panicking, I pulled out my trusty WinXP disk, booted to Recovery Console.....tried running a Chkdsk /r and it says that there are 1 or more unrecoverable errors with the drive. (now some concern) So I tried booting into BARTPE and it would not even detect drive C: and also caused a system lock up after being in BART for about 30 sec. (I wanted to try a FIXBOOT and or FIXMBR on it to see it that fixed it, but could not run these out of BART...sigh) Now getting really concerned!! I also tried booting to the UBD4Win, ACRONIS BD, CD911 BD, and HIRENS BD, but nothing would give me access to the C: drive. (now getting frustrated) So thinking possible bad HDDs, I ran Drive Fitness Test (DFT) on my HDDs and both drives came back in great shape! So there is nothing physically wrong with either drive. Yes I said either drive....here is the twist. I have 2 Seagate 120GB HDDs in RAID 0. So the OS sees it as 1 drive C: but it is 2 HDDs, so I really do not want to have to redo the RAID, Reformat, and Reinstall OS. (I will if nothing else can be done). While I was at it I tested the 2 GB of RAM with MEMTEST and that tested fine. So the Problem is a Corrupted NTFS Boot Issue only, not any bad hardware, so is there any tricks to repair the corrupted file system?? Can anyone recommend any software that can repair the NTFS?? or am I forced to start from scratch???? I just popped in my Acronis True Image CD, chose recovery, from my eSATA drive and was on my way in under thirty minutes.
