Guest otcmx Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 My problem started when my antivirus detected a trojan virus on a file gdcyxydi.dll located in system32 folder. I tried to heal the file but wasn't successful. I quarantined the file and deleted it. Now everytime I started my computer, I received an error missing file gdcyxydi.dll. So somewhere in my computer, an application is calling for this file on Windows startup. My question is, how do I find out which application is calling for this file? So that I can remove this application or re-install it. I'm currently using Windows XP professional. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Normally any dll that is a part of the Windows OS will be automatically replaced. Apparently, this Dll isn't part of Windows and may be part of the virus itself. What you are dealing with is a Registry call to load/run the module. Download AutoRuns and run. It will start with the Everything (TAB) shown - scan the Path column looking for that Dll name and when found Right Click the entry then delete it. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx "otcmx" <otcmx@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5F331C39-37AD-4EF3-B213-3945C2781E7A@microsoft.com... > My problem started when my antivirus detected a trojan virus on a file > gdcyxydi.dll located in system32 folder.
