Simsarmy Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 It seems like quite a stretch but try this: 1. Right-click on your desktop. 2. Select Arrange Icons By. 3. Select Show Desktop Icons. If that actually removes the icons, repeat the steps above to re-enable them. Quote
Simsarmy Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Searching Google for similar problems to yours, I've found that it's typically the result of viruses. That may or may not be true in your case, since you don't seem to be suffering any other malicious effects. However, while we're waiting for someone else to offer a suggestion, try the following: Open up Task Manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL. I'm curious to see if you're allowed to open it or not. Secondly, run an anti-virus scan. It's unlikely that it's a virus doing this, but it can't hurt to make sure while you're waiting for more help. Quote

KenB Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Hi again, Try running in Safe Mode. Switch on and constantly tap F8 ( about once per second ). Select Safe Mode from the list of Startup Options. Graphics will look odd due to limited drivers. You could also try "Last Known Good Configuration" from the same list.
