It seems like quite a stretch but try this:

 

1. Right-click on your desktop.

2. Select Arrange Icons By.

3. Select Show Desktop Icons.

 

If that actually removes the icons, repeat the steps above to re-enable them.

Searching Google for similar problems to yours, I've found that it's typically the result of viruses. That may or may not be true in your case, since you don't seem to be suffering any other malicious effects.

 

However, while we're waiting for someone else to offer a suggestion, try the following:

 

Open up Task Manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL. I'm curious to see if you're allowed to open it or not.

Secondly, run an anti-virus scan. It's unlikely that it's a virus doing this, but it can't hurt to make sure while you're waiting for more help.

Hi again,

 

Try running in Safe Mode.

Switch on and constantly tap F8 ( about once per second ).

Select Safe Mode from the list of Startup Options.

Graphics will look odd due to limited drivers.

 

You could also try "Last Known Good Configuration" from the same list.

There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !!

if his helps i was playing around on the internet once and i found a simple hack/trick that sounds just like it, so maybe if you try search up funny tricks and hacks on Google you might find how it was done then you can just work back words.

sorry i cant remember the name of the video but im sure you will find it.

if that does not work just try making a new user and get all of your files and settings coped to that new one and delete the old one

I am so embarrassed but at the same time laughing so hard. the desttop picture i had was of a friends dog. I took a screen shot to show her then changed pictured. When i decided to use it again guess what I did.........:o

I believe Frank suggested this some time back :)
