Software needed for Terminal Server

I am setting up a Terminal Server to allow 7 remote users to connect.

Current Server Configuration is running Windows Backoffice 2003.

What OS is needed/recommended on the new hardware in order to run Terminal

Services?

Re: Software needed for Terminal Server

Windows Server 2003 or 2008, Standard Edition or higher, support

Terminal Services.

Re: Software needed for Terminal Server

Thanks,

Also, Currently each user has Office 2003 installed on their local PC.

I assume that I need to install Office on the Server in order for them to

use it with Terminal Services? This would require all new licenses correct?

Re: Software needed for Terminal Server

Yes, you need to install Ofice on the TS.

But no, you don't need to buy new licenses, since an Office license

is always Per Device, and gives the device the right to run office,

either installed locally or in a remote session.

There's one catch to this rule: the version of Office on the client

and on the TS must match exactly. So if you are running an OEM

version of Office on the clients, you're out of luck, since you

can't install it on the TS.

Documented here:

Licensing of Microsoft Desktop Application Software for Use with

Windows Server Terminal Services

FWIW: Office licensing is complicated, because there are so many

possible scenarios. If in doubt, contact your local Microsoft

representative to get an authorative answer.
