Guest Wolverine in Michigan Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I have XP will all service packs. I am running on broadband but my old dialup modem box keeps popping up wanting me to dial in to my old service provider. When I cancel out of close the box and try to get on the network, I get a message saying I am offline. How do I disable the dial up without jeopardizing my broadband. Thanks

Open Internet Properties and under Connections tab, click "Never dial a connection". If you have ADSL, you need to remove the dial-up modem but leave the dsl, and otherwise leave that area alone. You should have mentioned what isp you were using before, such as AOL as that could have a bearing on how its dialing is stopped. Also explain what type of broadband connection you have, such as ADSL, Cable, ISDN, etc.. -- Joe =o)
