jayden-lee Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 hi i have not posted for a while now but i have a problem, i have a program that when i try to open it it says "This program requires at lest 3MB of free virtual memory to run" but when i use a program called "siv32x" which tells you how much virtual memory and also other things about it says that i have 120MB of "System File Cache" free and 1.92GB of "System Paging File" free and last but not least 115MB of "System Physical Memory" free. so i don't know what to do? Quote
KenB Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Hi, Check that your Virtual Memory is "System Managed" Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then press ENTER. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Performance click Settings. Click the Advanced tab, and then under Virtual memory click Change. Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file that you want to change. [ This is usually C:\ ) Make sure that "System Managed" has a check next to it. Change this if necessary. Click OK to close the dialog box and apply changes. Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! KenB Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Hi, 960MB ( probably 1GB RAM ) is fine for XP. 1.92GB of "System Paging File" From your first post you said that you had 1.92 GB free. The paging File is the Virtual Memory. This program requires at lest 3MB of free virtual memory There is a vast difference between 3MB and 1.92GB. ?????? How much free hard drive space do you have? jayden-lee Posted June 9, 2011 Author Posted June 9, 2011 it's a 40 GB hard disk and has 33 GB free space. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5okloBiGpo Quote
KenB Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 This program requires at lest 3MB of free virtual memory to run" When you get this message - does the program run properly anyway? Do you get a Virtual Memory / Page File error message at any other time ? For continuity it would help if you could reply a little quicker :) Quote There is an email going around offering processed pork - gelatin - and salt in a can ......this is simply SPAM !! Plastic Nev Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Do you know how old this program is Jayden? it just might not be able to run on XP if fairly old, and originally made for say Windows 98 or older. Just a thought is all, as I once came across a music program for learning notation that had that problem. I had to give up with it in the end. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems?
