Hey everyone,

I have been trawling Google for an solution to this problem but haven't found any answers as yet. I have been here before and people were super helpful and knowledgeable so I wondered if anyone has any ideas, as I'm stumped.

I am using a Hewlett Packard - Compaq Presario CQ70 laptop running Windows vista Home Basic (SP1) connecting via wireless router. I can connect to the net with no problems. The issue occurs only when the connection dips, I can't reconnect unless I reboot. I have local access only until I restart the laptop. Even when I try to connect manually it will never reconnect.

I get the message "Connection to the network is taking longer than usual"

Then;

"Connection unsuccessful"

We have another laptop running from the same connection, so I have eliminated the possibility of this being a router problem, it is definitely my laptop (it does the same thing with other routers on different connections also).

So I don't know what the problem could be.. any help will be much appreciated as I am now getting tired of seeing the boot screen ha.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Mini Li, welcome back,

Only a shot in the dark but it may be a firewall setting, have you checked your firewall?

Can you tell us which firewall you are using, and also what other protection you have, anti-virus or other.

Nev.
