Hi ppl

Just bin passed a stone lap top with a problem It work's on Vista home basic.

When you turn it on it work's fin for a few min's but then the screen flicker's then goes so dark that you can not see a thing but it is still running I'v connected a external monoter to it and can see the desk top and all short cut's with no problems but the lap top stay's dark you can just mak out the desk top and short cut's.

Could this be a problem with the G-card setting's or missing driver's or out of date driver's????

I'v run driver pro on it and it tell's me that there are 21 out of date driver's on it

Go to the computer manufacturers website and under there support tab input the make and model and download and install the drivers for free.

This could possibly be the backlight on the monitor has gone or a connection problem....

Check under power settings and set monitor never to hybernate or sleep.

Further to Jelly Beans advice, if you look from one side at the screen can you make out a vague outline of what is on screen?

If so it is definitely the backlight tube or the converter/inverter pack for it.

It can be replaced if very confident in disassembly of the screen, lid, and main body. If not then I would recommend taking it to a laptop technician to repair.
