Shadow Copy and volume cluster size

I am looking to set up Shadow copy on a Windows Storage Server2003.

I have a primary volume that is presently 1.4TB.

Technet recommends "Use an allocation unit size of 16 (KB) or larger on a

source volume on which shadow Copies of Shared Folders will be Enabled.

(Apparently there could be loss of files with defragmentation of the volume).

The volume default cluser size is 4KB.

I am considering splitting the size of this disK space into 2 volumes - One

volume(D:) for files and the other volume(E:) for Storing Shadow Copies.

Prior to loading any files and enabling shadow copy I have the following

questions:

Q: If the D volume is enabled for shadow copy but the actual copiesa are

stored on a separate volume - is it still necessary to have the clustere size

of this volume at 16 KB to eliminate any issues with defragmentation?

Q: Should the E volume that just contains "Shadow Copies" have a cluster

size of 16KB?

Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated.

Regards,
