the rabbi Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 hi guys this is the probs... my RM (windows xp pro - pentium4) machine from our local college, cant ' see ' my router even tho its connected directly to the router by cat5 cables(2 cos of the distance) i was told that i cannot network it, so... do i need software (free if poss) or is it just a few adjustments to the pc?? i've looked for the i p addy-and all i can find is = ip addy - 0.0.0.0 submask - 0.0.0.0 over you the profesionals... Using 2 ethernet cables: Presumably you can get access to the router. Move closer and try the ethernet cables one at a time to ensure that it is not a fault with one of the cables. Dalo Harkin Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Are you sure that the cables are not crossover cables which are used when linking computers together to transfer data.
