Security Bulletin MS08-030 and IIS Problem

Recommended Posts

I recently applied the security patch referred to in

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms08-030.mspx to a

Windows XP SP3 workstation. After applying the patch when I restarted

IIS, the Internet Information Services plug-in reported that it could

not attach to the computer. Additionally, I could no longer attach to

my localhost web server.

When I removed the patch, IIS behaved normally again and I could

restart IIS at will.

Has anyone else run into a similar issue and if so, is there a

resolution?

thanks,

Michael

MS08-030 was re-released on 19 Jun-08 for WinXP SP2 and WinXP SP3; cf.

http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windowsupdate/browse_frm/thread/3c52fe126eff07b7

and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951376

When did you install MS08-030?

The install was on the 19th. However, I had downloaded it previously

and it could have been prior to the 19th. Thanks, I'll try the re-

released version.
