Scrubber.exe utility for Windows 2000 startup Loader Error 3
by Guest Kathy in NC- 2 replies

I can no longer longer boot my old, old Dell laptop due to the "loader error 3". According to the literature, I need the scrubber.exe 5.2.3790.238 12-Aug-2005 utility for Windows 2000. I cannot find it on the downloads page and don't want to pay for it. Is there some way to get this hotfix without having to pay for MS Product Support? The PC is too old to put any money into it...

Pushing Buttons
by Guest Sid Elbow- 10 replies

Something that's bothered me for years and I wondered if anyone could shed some light: Not infrequently when I use the mouse to push a screen "button", I'm perhaps a bit sloppy, the button-push isn't seen and I have to do it again more carefully ... ..... and yet, sloppy or not, I actually *see* the button depress. Thus Windows sure as heck knows I pushed it so why doesn't it respond? It's almost like pushing a button on the TV remote and not pressing hard enough. Surely Windows buttons aren't pressure-sensitive. This kind of reminds me of a problem I used to have in Win3X days where a double-click wouldn't take. After messing with the double-clic…

Printing all items in a folder.
by Guest Jaz- 2 replies

We have a situation where we need to print all files that are in a folder. The user would put a number in a prompt that appears. The number would correlate to a specific folder and print all items in that folder. The folder would consists of word, excel, PDF's and certain images. All I really need is the right command(s) to print the items in the folder. Is there command, script or third party software that can accomplish this? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks, Jasper

Restore or turn on a registry key on C drive from a different harddrive
by Guest chevyavalanche- 24 replies

Here's the situation: I turned off a registry key that somehow disables my mouse and I can no longer use the drive as it boots up ok to the msconfig dialog box (the one that states you modified something) and then I can go no further. I can't tab or do anything at this point. The mouse is there on the screen but it doesn't move. I know the exact registry key that I need to turn back on but I just can't get to it. I've tried booting into safe mode and this doesn't work as my mouse doesn't work there and I've tried booting into last known good configuration and that doesn't work either. I've tried usb and ps2 mouses and neither move but they show up on the…

Hello, I work for a public school system running both Windows XP Pro (SP2) and Windows 2000 Pro (SP4) PCs. I have a strange problem that started around 12/13/07 on only my Windows 2000 PCs and has been intermittently happening on most if not all of my 2000 PCs. The user gets a popup message on the screen "Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low: Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file". They just click on the OK button and it goes away and they continue to work. All these PCs have been running very well until aroung 12/13/07. I am running a WSUS server and just so happens that seven Wi…

A strange occurence
by Guest nesredep egrob- 1 reply

Not sure what made me look at readersdigest.com.au but I was certainly surprised. Using Firefox, I find my full screen suddenly taken down to the lower size after a little while. As I changed from one part of the site to another I expanded the display again only to find messages on the bottom line resulting in another decrease in the screen display. I took some considerable time before it finally settled over a 10-15 minute period when I was trying to read 'Laughter is the best medicine'. Interested in why that should be so - I looked at options and went in and 'deleted all cookies' and the display started varying again from Large to Small. I then tried MS Expl…

by Guest phantom- 1 reply

Did nVidia stop making drivers for Windows 2000? I've noticed the latest driver for my video card (a GeForce 7900 GTO) is from May, last year: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_94.24_2.html Exploring their list of 8xxx series video cards reveals they have never released drivers for Windows 2000 for that entire line of cards. Following ATI's example, they are just moving away from the last good Windows operating system, now only supporting Windows XP and Vista (my previous ATI Radeon card's official drivers were last released in February 2006). Are these companies choosing the right path in ditching Windows 2000? Alot of people still use it. I bet nVidia ge…
