MI5-Persecution: MI5 are Afraid to Admit Theyre Behind the Persecution (27387)
by Guest MI5-Victim@mi5.gov.uk- 0 replies
- 242 views
MI5 are Afraid to Admit They're Behind the Persecution MI5 have issued a formal denial of any involvement in my life to the Security Service Tribunal, as you might expect them to; but, more importantly, the persecutors have never denied that theyre from the Security Service, despite several years of accusations from my corner on usenet and in faxed articles. I am not surprised that the Security Service Tribunal found "no determination in your favour". I am however a little surprised that the persecutors have refused to confirm my identification of them; by doing so, they implicitly admit that my guess was right. "No determination in your favour" says the Secu…

MI5-Persecution: Why do you think MI5 are responsible? (3374)
by Guest MI5-Victim@mi5.gov.uk- 0 replies
- 246 views
Why do you think MI5 are responsible? The question of who is ultimately responsible for this eight-year harassment is one which is very difficult to answer, as the persecutors have never clearly made their identities known to the persecutee. However, I believe I am correct in attributing the continuing victimisation to elements of the British Security Service MI5, and in this article, I will try to explain the reasons for this belief. The British internet magazine ".net" featured my website on page 17 of their March 1998 issue (number 42). Their review kindly describes it as an "excellent site" and gives some details of what the net surfer will find there. S…

Test for the existence of a drive?
by Guest Sid Elbow- 2 replies
I have a Netgear SAN device on my LAN (like a NAS device it connects to the LAN but unlike the NAS, it has little intelligence of its own and does not show up as a network resource. Instead, a driver is installed on each workstation that makes the SAN appear as a virtual local drive). Because of the need to install the driver which then has to attach the drive, the drive is not available for a short time after booting. This gives me some difficulty because I need to set up a drive mapping to a folder on the virtual drive that is created but when I do, it fails after a reboot because the drive does not, initially, exist. Is there a way that I can test, …

C:\ partition with a interemittent bad sector
by Guest jbclem- 7 replies

My WIn2000 PIII computer has 2 hard drives and 2 Win2000 installations (C: ands E:). So I can always boot up in E: when this intermittent problem happens. There seems to be a bad hard drive sector near or at the beginning of the C: and when it's bad I can't boot up in C: . I can run Partition Table Doctor's surface test(from E:) and spot the bad sector, and today when it happened I couldn't access anything on C:, and My Computer was showing zero bytes on C:. I could still access other partitions on that hard drive, D: and E:. Usually when this happens I can't boot up in C: but I can access files in that partition so I assumed that the problem was only in the …

Re: Cannot find C:\..exe. Windows needs thi file to run C:\.exe Solution to the problem: "cannot find X:/.xxxx windows needs this file to run X:/xxxxx" I know this is an old post, but I just had the same problem and through a roundabout way, found the solution in Microsofts' KnowledgeBase. I was missing, (due to a virus I think) the file ntvdm.exe in \system32, I replaced it with a copy from my cache (I did a search and found 3 different copies on my computer) and the problem is gone! It seems that this file, and some registry entries, are needed for running MS-DOS or 16-bit applications. If you are interested, a link to the KB is http://support.mic…

Please --- I hope you can help this grandmother of 10 to undo what I did. I bought my computer from my work back in 2003. It came with Windows 2000 Professional. Previous to my getting into Users and Passwords today -- on the Control Panel I used to be able to turn my computer on, and everything would come up on the screen without putting a password in. Well due to my daughter and her small children (my grandchildren), planning to come and live with me. I thought that I would fix my computer so that it required a password to get into it. This is the first time I ever attemped to do this. If I can get things back to the way they used to be, maybe I…

Drive letter 'hard-wired' into path names
by Guest Herbert Eppel- 1 reply

I'm not sure whether the answer to my question is contained in the recent "Drive Mapping" thread... On my laptop I recently moved my user data (My Documents) to drive D:, while on my PC my user data still reside on C: The move itself went OK, but one issue I hadn't thought about is that currently the drive letter is 'hard wired' into the path names for files used by some of my main applications, which means that every time I synchronise my laptop and my PC (which I to regularly) I have to fiddle around with the path names if I want to open a recent project on the other computer =-O Is there a simple (?) solution for this, i.e. might it be possible t…

Windows Server 2000 Terminal Services Remote Administration Client
by Guest Robert Lindholm- 1 reply

Hello: I'm migrating several services from a Win2K server to a Win2K3 server and would like to setup remote administration [via terminal serivces] to ease the transition. I have used this feature previously [several years ago now] and was pleased with it's [relative] capabilities at the time, but decided to disable this functionality once I'd migrated most of my services over to newer [Win2K3] machines. I'm trying to re-establish this capability and while the server-side component setup seems relatively straightforward, I haven't been able to determine what facilities are still available for the client-side. I would like to setup the [remote] adm…

W2KPro weird behaviour after Security Bulleting update on 12/12/07
by Guest LabYardJunky- 2 replies

Hi, My sincere aplogies, If i have posted it to the wrong newsgroup. Yesterday my system Win2Kpro Sp4 received 4 updates KB937894, KB941568, KB942615-IE6SP1...,KB941569. Problem1: Unfortunately I have a local VC++ program compiled using Windows socket WS2_32.lib and MSVCRT.lib stops loading when running from DOS command prompt. What is application does is just listen to a port and when anything connected to that port it just relay that information to a server inside my firewall. Like a port forwarding service but much simpler. The program compiles, but when loading it chokes as if someone already using that port. I changed that port# to various others …

KMODE EXCEPTION

rRight now my confuser (computer) has decided it doesn't like me. So it decided one day to show it was the boss. When it was started one dayit decided to give the kmode exception not handled error. The system also didn't like the hot fix. Problem is the system reeefuses to let me know, if it wasn't applied right. Or if the hot fix wasn't what it wanted. Memory testers have provided results that isn't what makes it act up. Also the error happens when the onboard graphics is used. When the system is started normally, the error information is 0xC0000005, 0xBFC816C2, 0X00000000, and 0x00000D0A. For some reason the system only will provide that informati…

Creating a share at the server root

I have a problem with my Access database and a solution is offered on the following website - Microsoft Access Performance FAQ http://www.granite.ab.ca/Access/performancefaq.htm Here's the solution - "Alternatively I'd suggest having the network people setup a share right on the directory that contains your database. Instead of using \ \Server\Dir1\Subdir2\Subdir3\subdir4\subdir5\backend.mdb you'd use \ \server\Sharesubdir5. " "They can can append a $ to the end of the share name to make it a hidden share so as to not confuse people. You would also need to use a $ at the end of the share name as well. As in \\server \Sharesubdir5$." I have full righ…

Couple of shell annoyances
by Guest Roger Fink- 0 replies

I'm having two unrelated problems with Windows Explorer that ought to be solvable. First, for the file "Loceal Settings", the checkbox for "Hidden" refuses to stay unchecked beyond more than the current session. Once the system is rebooted, the option is automatically rechecked, even though I'm the administrator this is the profile I use every day. This is true for my desktop only; my W2K laptop doesn't have this problem. Also, in the right hand pane of Windows Explorer the column heading widths can be set by right-clicking the heading, selecting "More", and then specifying in the width. The default folder/file column width is way too short, at least for me,…
