Lost DoubleClick on the wheel on a Wheel Mouse
by Guest Kurt F- 3 replies

After having run the program Advanced WindowsCare V2 Pro, I lost the Double Click function on the mouse. I can´t get it back again, despite going to the Control Panel -> Mouse and toggled the setting for the wheel to "Enter" and then back to "DoubleClick". Can anybody please give me a clue what´s going on? It can´t be the mouse, as I have two computers connected with a KVM switch, and the mouse works on the other computer.

by Guest Per Nermo- 6 replies

I'm running a WIN 2000 PC with a wireless connection to Internet via a private wireless WLAN router and an ADSL modem. To the same WLAN is connected a MS Vista LapTop as well. Until recently, I was able to see the Vista LapTop computer name under My Computer - Computers Near Me and My Network Places - Entire Network - Microsoft Windows Network - Workgroup but now, all I get is an error window message showing : "Workgroup is not accessible. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently avialable." What can I do to in order to be able to access the other computer via the WLAN ? (The other way around, my Win 2000 PC is also not visib…

Unable to open files after chkdsk
by Guest Chris- 12 replies

We have a windows 2000 PC running in our office where all our common files are stored. Basically all our word documents, spreadsheets and our databases. The system reported a problem on the one hard drive where all the files are stored and requested that chkdsk be run on reboot. This was done and windows went ahead and repaired a number of files. All the files are still there, and even the correct file sizes are displayed, however we are unable to access 50% of them. When you try open a file in word, word tries to import the file saying it doesn't recognise the file type. The same with excel, PDF's, and JPG's. As Murphy’s law would have it, it seems i…

Running W2K Server, I used diskpart to extend 200 gb partition with a 100 gb partition to make 300gb partition, then rebooted server. Now disk displays as 300 gb disk in Disk Management, however server is still showing only 200g available. How can I use the additional 100 gb added?

Thinkpad cold boot problem
by Guest Roger Fink- 5 replies

I have two nearly identical W2k ThinkPad laptops, which display the same problem. During a cold boot GoBack is unable to initialize (if that is the correct term for this), and when that happens the boot just hangs. Instead of proceeding from "Preparing Network Connections" to "Applying Security Policy", and then to the logon screen, instead it proceeds from "Preparing Network Connections" to "Applying Computer Settings", and from there into limbo. I'm sure GoBack is the problem because in a successful boot, by design the GoBack logo will momentarily flash on the screen once it's initialized. After this failure, if you immediately reboot from shutdown, the next bo…

Blue Screen problem
by Guest sherwindu- 13 replies

I received two blue screen messages this week, while the system was sitting idle. I have been running Windows 2000 with SP4 for quite some time, with no major problems. I ran extensive memory checks producing no errors. I did several virus scans with nothing found. I did several chkdsk's with no errors found. At the recommendation of the text on the blue screen, I disabled the cache memory in my BIOS settings. However, doing that caused the startup screen to stall out and I had to reset the cache memory. The error on the blue screen was: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR I have added no new hardware, and all things appear to operate fine. Any ideas on…

How to get autorun working in win2k?
by Guest galapogos- 2 replies

Hi, I have a few USB flash drives that have CDROM partitions in them with autorun, and 1 of these autoruns work in 2K while others don't. Assuming I have the ability to modify the contents of the CDROM partition, how do I get all of them to work? I've looked at the autorun.inf files, but they all seem to be pretty similar, except the one that works is a U3 drive.

The young golfer from Wales believes "Discipline is definitelylearned and gets better with practice." The young golfer from Wales believes "Discipline is definitely learned and gets better with practice." Doctors and scientists said that breaking the four-minute mile was impossible, that one would die in the attempt. Thus, when I got up from the track after collapsing at the finish line, I figured I was dead. http://shenrilaa.googlepages.com/

Non-Dvorak Keyboard Layout ¿¿
by Guest InOverMyHead- 3 replies

I want to add a new keyboard layout (Control Panel - Keyboard - Input Locals) for Spanish characters. I am tired of doing the Alt-Keypad thing. I note that Microsoft has a huge number of keyboard options. Is there a graphic somewhere that corresponds to each of these variations? Without a guide, its really a guessing game which of the several "Spanish" layouts will best fit my needs. Thanks for any help¡¡ Bob

I use this site, http://internetfrog.com/, to measure my u/l and d/l speeds. From January 22 to March 5, I made 20 tests. Hi All, We recently upgraded a windows 2000 server to Windows 2003 enterprise edition server, it was a fresh installation. We created all the shares which existed and gave permissions, and user started working on it for the last 2 days, yesterday we gave windows update and updated the server using express update, so almost everything got updated. This server is a member server in a AD domain, users are grouped this way. Two groups H1 and H2 were created in "Tai2d/built" OU and all users were placed in respective groups according to their privileges. But from today onwards some users are not able to access some shares. for eg. user1 and user2 are ex…

by Guest Hiram- 6 replies

Morning: I recently allowed the adobe updater to upgrade my reader... It didn't uninstall the Reader 9.0b.ocx file properly before loading the new version and now the registry is looking for that OCX file... I tried deleting the key that refers to it but Win 2K won't let me delete the invalid registry key... I asked Adobe and they sent me a utility to wipe the ocx files from the computer and then I reloaded the new reader from their website... It's still looking for the 9.0b ocx file... Help...
