Hi! All, I have Windows Server 2003 R2 installed on a 300 gb HDD which has been mirrored. The server has 2 partitions C Drive is 50gb and D drive is 250 gb. Now I am running out of disk space on theC drive and would like to use the partition magic to shrink D Drive and extend the C Drive. I would like to know if this is possible using partition magic. I hope it will not cause any problems to the RAID? Appreciate any help and advice. Thank you Regards Harry

Re-installing on laptop with no CD drive
by Guest Alpha- 14 replies

We need to re-install Windows 98 SE or ME or 2K-Pro on a laptop that has its CD drive internal connection damaged. The floppy drive works though. We have all the original Windows CDs and a Win98 boot floppy, as well as all the required drivers. The unit originally had Win98 on it that was later upgraded to WinME and subsequently to Win2K-Pro. Can we - take out the hard drive and format it (using appropriate existing adapters) in FAT on another machine and - copy the CD contents and device drivers to an install folder, and - put that drive back into the laptop, and - boot with the Win98 floppy, and - run Setup from the install folder, bypassing the CD drive? …

Scheduled Tasks Taskbar Icon Missing

In Windows 98, the icon loaded at Windows startup. I don't see it loading with Windows 2000. Is this intentional or is there a registry entry to handle this?

RE: desperate for help...add/remove program error This same message starting popping up when I went back into Add/Remove to make sure that netcom3.com internet security suite software was gone after I uninstalled it from Start and Programs. I am looking for an easy solution to getting back my Add/Remove Programs and window updates, etc. Please, can someone help. -- Jo Buckner "JuJuBe" wrote: > since downloading svc pack 4 - we are getting the following error msg when > trying to open add/remove program file: > > An unexpected error has occurred. > > Object doesn't support this property or method > res://sp3res.dll/defa…

restart command, shuts down and stays down
by Guest MF- 7 replies

I've got an HP DL360 G4p with Win 2k SP4 on it. When I issue the restart command on it, it shuts down but won't start up again - which is a bit of a pain if I ever have to restart it remotely. I'm scratching my head. I've reapplied SP4 but (surprise surprise) it made no difference. HP say it's an MS issue. Anyone any ideas? Thanks... Mike

Server 2 RDP license now 1?
by Guest OldBored- 6 replies

I have noted that, not this week but some time in the recent past, Windows Server 2000 (all versions) seem to have lost a CAL for RDP. The server came with a 2 CAL license to administer the server, now all the 2000 servers I have to administer remotely only allow a single sign on. Anyone know why Microsoft took away this CAL? Any plan to give it back? Sometimes we need 2 people in there.

Uncontrollable scrolling in all apps
by Guest DSolymar- 2 replies

I have an HP Omnibook 6000 laptop that is running Windows 2000 Professional. The computer seemed to be working fine until a couple of days ago when it became impossible to select anything because the cursor would automatically scroll down any menu in any program and cycle through all the options continuously. This happens in Internet Explorer (selection goes all the way to the bottom of the page and it's impossible to scroll back up without holding down the Ctrl key at the same time), Windows Explorer, and all apps. It even happens on startup, where I have a choice to select Windows 2000 or my old Windows 98 OS; the selection bounces back and forth unco…

Re: Error DCOM 10010
by Guest yanoush- 0 replies

Re: Error DCOM 10010 An old post but thought I'd mention how I solved this as the process may help someone even if the fault is different. This was the error: "The server {204810B9-73B2-11D4-BF42-00B0D0118B56} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout." I searched the registry for the {...} reference and found the key: "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{204810b9-73b2-11d4-bf42-00b0d0118b56}" I searched for this and found Microsoft info explaining that it "registers the COM coclass for the UPnPRegistrar interface." (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms907987.aspx) I was lucky because the same info gave a sub-key which was missing from the r…

How can I disable the use of regedit and regedt32?
by Guest George Hester- 5 replies

The reason I ask is because for some reason the two have been disabled in my domain controller Administrator account in Windows 2000 SP4. Luckily I made duplicate Administrator equivalent accounts when I first constructed this machine so not all is lost but I would like to get back the control for the original Administrator account. I believe something happened to a Group Policy or Local Security or Domain security or Controller security or some other security or NTFS securuity or ...
