Strange TCP/IP Issue
by Guest Dennis Rhine- 1 reply

I have an HP ProLiant DL360 server running Windows 2000 Server. The strange issue we are seeing with this server - and only this server - is in the TCP/IP settings. We have manually entered a total of six IP addresses into this server (migrating from one IPS to another). If I run IPCONFIG /all I see all of the correct IP addresses and everything appears to be correct. However, if I open the Network Connection properties window the system tells me that these settings are DHCP controlled. If I reset the network controller by disabling the card and then reenabling it, all TCP/IP settings are lost and must be manually reenetered. Any ideas where we can l…

Internet Explorer crashing/rebooting Windows 2000
by Guest JJ Jones- 1 reply

Last week we suddenly started to have Internet Explorer crash the system. Going to various websites causes the system to do an immediate reboot (without shutdown). Thats IE version 6.0.2800.1106, and Windows 2000 SP4 v. 5.00.2195. We've had "automatic updates" turned on, so the system has all of the latest updates. Also, a full virus scan showed no viruses, and chkdsks on all disks showed no problems. Anybody have any clues? Thanks

File handling question for Dave Patrick!

Thanks for help on Cd's - message on that post but, one you may be able to help with for a chap across the water from you in Watchet. This win2kpro machine has a couple of 16bit applications (Corel 5 is one) and when using the 'file open' command, there are no drive letters shown in the drive box. If full path typed into file name box, finds file OK. All other programs with 32 bit use a different file open box and are fine. Tried old registries and no difference. Do you know what files/dll/reg entries control this 16 bit open box and how they find drive lists??? Just a nuisance fault but would love to find what caused it!!!!!

Cannot set default printer in Windows 2000
by Guest talisman- 1 reply

I am running Windows 2000 on a local computer on a network with a Windows 2000 Server using a local domain. I have setup profiles for each user so that I can control their desktops. I have given each user full access rights to their profile directory. They login as a domain user. I have set up a 4050 laser printer using the built in print server and assigned a permanent IP address to the printer (It is not in active directory). I have added users in the past and they worked and still work fine. I delete users as they leave the company. Now when I add new users, I setup a their particular profile. I then grant them full permissions. The problem …
