To all I ask.. I just installed 64 bit Vista business after almost a year and a half of Vista 32Bit.. My question is in my old system control panel I had a Bluetooth icon but now in 64bit I do not. Where did it go?? Does 64bit not support it or do I need to enable it somehow ??..This would be kind of nice to have.. Thanks in advance for your help. Vista pre-beta SP2 released to selected testers

Read all about it here: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/10/23/windows-vista-service-pack-2-sp2-pre-beta-600216489-released-to-selected-testers/ Of course, hackers have already managed to create a registry hack that allows you to download this risky and unstable download. I won't post the web page where that modification is made public, it might even cause a further damage in the stock market and worldwide economy or a distortion in the space continuum! ;) Carlos

Available Memory to 32-Bit Applications
by Guest Mike Sharpe- 13 replies

We are running Windows XP64 and we are using 4 CPU machines that have 8GB total. We have a program that was written in 32-Bit code that runs on these computers. It does some complex mathematics and data crunching. Since we have 4 CPUs on this computer, we create 4 separate processes. Our assumption was that each process can have 2 GB worth of addressable space. Since the code is written in 32-Bit, do these 4 CPUs each share the same 4GB of lower memory? What we are seeing is that our code is running out of memory when the total system memory usage is around 1.8GB. This leads me to believe that the 64-Bit version of Windows cannot remap memory i…

Help! N/working XP64 & Vista 32bit 1 2
by Guest me@tarquin.demon.co.uk- 27 replies

I'm quite an experienced computer user but have never before tried to set up a home network and I have completely failed to succeed with it. Equipment is D/top with XP64, new Samsung Laptop with Vista32 and a fairly new Buffalo wireless/wired router. Both machines connect OK to the internet - D/top via cable to router and laptop by wireless. What I've failed to achieve is to set up a wired network between the 2 machines so we can exchange files and share the use of the printer connected to the D/top machine. However, I have been able to ping each machine from the other. The difficulty seems to be setting up the N/work on the D/top and seeing the laptop. …

setup for Visual Studio 2008 Pro Ed. on 64-bit computer

On-line lists of features for VS 2008 list the capability of emitting code for 64-bit computing if VS is installed on a 64-bit computer. Does anyone know if such installation is sufficient to cause VS to emit 64-bit code, or is there additional parameters that must be set during installation or at development time to cause VS to emit 64-bit code? *TimDaniels*

A solution to a weird problem
by Guest Carlos- 4 replies

I want to share this solution to a problem that showed up 1 week ago. Opening any video file with WMP in Vista x64 would cause an instant reboot of my PC. No BSOD (though I have activated not to reboot instantaneously and show the BSOD), no traces in event viewer, no leads, no hunches, no nothing. This sudden reboot was not reproducible and/or predictable. The only common factor was playing a video with WMP, but not always. I began suspecting of my brand new Powercolor ATI 4850 card, first ATI after many years of faithfulness to Nvidia, which had been installed two weeks ago (counting back from today). So I fired up system restore and "rewound" my PC 5 days …

A new release for Java is available. http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp There is still no x64 IE support so the file you want to download is jre-6u10-windows-i586-p.exe that will take care of the Java thing in IE 32-bit. Release notes here: http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/ReleaseNotes.html Don't forget to uninstall your previous version of Java first! Carlos

SP2 or SP3 for Windows XP Pro x64
by Guest Denise- 7 replies

I've just gone around and around the Microsoft site trying to find an SP2 or SP3 download for Windows XP Pro x64. When I chose x64, it was for Vista only. When I went to http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/default.mspx, there is no category for XP Pro x64. I could try a guess . . . maybe I should use the Vista x64 since it's an x64 update or maybe I should use the Windows Server 2003 update, or maybe even Windows XP. When is Microsoft going to realize that XP Pro x64 needs its own category. I have the same problem when I try to download most programs. They're good for Vista x64, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003, but very few of them…

Excel Hangs under XP64
by Guest Jeffrey- 1 reply

Whenever I have an excel book open and then open another the initial workbook hangs for about ten minutes before being usable again. The new one I opened works great until I open another workbook where the pattern repeats. Is this an Excel issue of a Windows XP64 issue? And what exactly is the issue? I had disabled auto calculate in case that was the problem.
