Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.0
by Guest Carlos- 5 replies

Here's something that many have been asking for: "Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.0" http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=dseo Risky, but might relieve you from pressing F8 on every boot and choosing "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement". Charlie would qualify this software as a "bad idea". Me too, but... :) Carlos

Visual C++ 2008 Feature Pack Redist x64
by Guest Carlos- 2 replies

"The Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Feature Pack Redistributable Package (x64) installs runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries required to run 64-bit applications developed with Visual C++ 2008 Feature Pack on a computer that does not have Visual C++ 2008 installed. This package installs runtime components of C Runtime (CRT), Standard C++, ATL, MFC, OpenMP and MSDIA libraries. For libraries that support side-by-side deployment model (CRT, SCL, ATL, MFC, OpenMP) they are installed into the native assembly cache, also called WinSxS folder, on versions of Windows operating system that support side-by-side assemblies." http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta…

What's wrong with this picture: Vista 64 Business fresh install with new machine, disbled all the microsoft crap for the twit users, simply trying to copy a file of 76,646 KB from an external drive to the C: drive, which works on XP, is still trying to copy after 504 hours...yes we are letting it do it stuff to see if the brilliant Microsoft product will come out of its cycle... Any ideas why this is happening? Is it looking for a lift to Silicon Valley?

Can't install DLL in Vista 64 bit.
by Guest LindaSusan- 5 replies
I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit on a new HP notebook. I make HTML stationery and need to install the dxtmeta2.dll The dll is 32 bit and won't install. I was told to put it in the C:\Windows\syswow64 folder and turn off the User Account Control. regsvr32 dxtmeta2.dll doesn't work. It says the module dxtmeta2.dll failed to load. I also tried a small batch file that was made to install the dll in Vista. That didn't work either. Is there anyway to work around this and get the dll to install? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, Linda

64 bit Anytime Upgrade
by Guest troutman- 1 reply

It seems that the Anytime Upgrade program is now only available by the purchase of packaged software. Has anyone used the current Anytime Upgrade process to upgrade a 64 bit version of Vista to another 64 bit version (i.e. Business to Ultimate). In looking at Microsoft's website, I can't determine if there are separate Anytime Upgrade packs for 32 and 64 bit systems or if each pack contains media for both.

Windows 64-bit Won't Boot!
by Guest Johnny Jayhawk- 3 replies
Hi I've been running windows 32-bit for a while but I decided I should upgrade to take advantage of my processor with the 64-bit edition. I'm installing it on a RAID 0 setup which the installer recognizes. I remformat the partition I'm installing the system on and install it. Then it restarts and it seemed like it wasn't finishing the installation properly. I did it several times (reformatting each time) and finally I got a full install. Then when I try to boot the computer from that partition, it gets through the POST but when the Vista load screen comes up the screen flashes blue and reboots. I got it to boot up successfully once but when I restarted it …

Printing problems XP64 networked printers
by Guest Jim Helfer- 3 replies
We've just migrated to using shared network printers on a Server 2003. We have 64-bit Windows XP workstations, so we have the 32bit and 64bit drivers loaded on the server. We're having some printing problems that seem mostly prevalent on the 64-bit machines. When you send a print command, sometimes they will stall, and experience long delays of the application locked up before they print. I'm also getting "Thunking" errors. Any ideas apreciated. Jim

Hard Drive Disappears
by Guest Luchog Llewynyth- 5 replies

I recently built a new computer, and have installed Windows XP Pro x64 as my only OS. All of my new drives are SATA, and everything in the install went fine, with no errors. All of the hard drives are recognized, and I didn't have to manually install any drivers (XP picked up my SATA drives just fine on its own). Once I had it up and running smoothly, I broke down my old computer, which was running XP Pro x86 (32bit). I pulled out both of the old IDE drives and connected them in the new box, one at a time, in order to copy over my files. With the first drive, a 40Gb Maxtor, everything went fine. With the other, a 120Gb Seagate, I am having problems…

Motorola USB Vista x64 drivers released yesterday
by Guest Carlos- 0 replies

Motorola (https://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/) has released a new set of drivers (both x86 and x64) for their mobile phones. These drivers are not necessary for the usual USB Mass Storage use of these phones (like a disk) but might come in handy with another software like P2KTools, Motorola Mobile Phone Tools, Mobiledit!, etc. Carlos

Disk Imaging for 64 bit Vista
by Guest Don- 12 replies
Hey gang, Now that I have some important apps and data in my Vista Ultimate 64 bit install, I think the time has come for me to start imaging it. I am dual booting with XP Pro 32 bit, but now find myself rarely going into XP. I used Powerquest's Drive Image, for my XP install on a 80 gb external usb hard drive, I have just purchased and received a new 500 gb WD external usb hard drive. I know Drive Image was gobbled up by Norton, and is now their Ghost program, but I am not a big fan of Symantec products. I am thinking of going with Acronis True Image 11, seems to be a popular imaging program that a lot of folks like. It states it supports Vista, as…

Install of Vista 32bit after the 64bit
by Guest morvi- 7 replies

I have a pre installed Vista Home Premium 64bit (and the cd - activated by me 2 days ago) in my brand new computer. I realised this wont fit me and want to install now the 32bit version. 2 qeststions: 1.- Do I need to buy a full 32Bit version? or I there any king of upgrade option. 2.- Can someone give me some clues about how to do this install of the 32bit after the 64bit? e.g. Do I start by formatting the HD or should I install on top? - I've asked the PC provider and all they can tell me is that all the 32bit drivers are in the CD's I've got with the PC. (I am no PC expert but can understand quite well) Thanks for any clues Morvi

Does anyone have an diognostic softw for 64bit?
by Guest core20- 6 replies
I've lots of diagnostic software for WinXP 32bit, Winternals, MiniPE, Hiron...but NOTHING for 64bit Windows xp Pro. And, I currently have a tower with a Stripe RAID Array, 2Gigs memory, ASUS motherboard, etc and when I boot, the system hangs with the mouse arrow displaying on the black desktop. It even moves around, but system will not boot past this point. Help with ideas of what is causing the boot to hang and maybe you know where there is some good 64bit maintenance software that is bootable, CD/DVD or USB.

Can compression of c: cause a hang of Windows Vista 64?
by Guest Dima- 8 replies
Hello! Can the compression of the drive c: cause a hang of Windows Vista 64 when I try to unlock Windows Vista 64 in about 8 hours of its being locked? The Windows uploaded through BitTorrent when it was locked. The Windows Vista 64 does not hang if it has been locked less than 3 hours. The Windows Vista 64 did not hang before I compressed the drive c: to save disk space. Sincerely, Dima
