Windows XP Pro 64 Bit Title Bar is gone.. how to fix
by Guest eaemnc- 2 replies
Microsoft XP Pro 64 Bit Title Bar is missing. I have no Minimize, Maximize and close option. On a Maximized page for Internet Explorer, the Title Bar is black above the: website, locked site, refresh icon. On a Maximized page for a Microsoft Word Document, the Title Bar is black above the: File, Edit, View... and I can not minimize or maximize on any window I open including my Microsoft Outlook e-mail. On a Minimized page I see the Title Bar just fine but have to use "Alt, Space-bar" in order to get the minimize, maximize, close option. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to fix this without having to do a system restore to a date p…

Program Fails to Close Properly
by Guest Ken Triebold- 3 replies

I have installed an older 32 bit program (TurboCAD version 7) on my Vista Home Premium x64 computer. I had to use Compatibility Mode (with XP SP2) to get it to install and run. It now runs fine but there is one minor issue that I would like to eliminate if possible. When I close the program, a message is displayed saying: TurboCAD for Windows has stopped working. Two options are then presented: 1. Check online for a solution and close the program. 2. Close the program. There is also a list of problem details presented with a lot of data that I don't understand, but at the top of the list is this - Problem Event Name: APPCRASH What I normally do i…

OT - Let the "blackout" begin!
by Guest Carlos- 5 replies

I call it blackout & unplugged period. My wife calls it "vacations". It is that time of the year when my fingers stay away from the keyboard and their main job becomes pulling/pushing the credit card from my wallet. I'll certainly miss all the regulars in the cyber-family lodged - and logged - in this 64-bit NG. I guess I'll be online by Feb 25th. :) Carlos

WD passport not recognized
by Guest José Silva- 3 replies

Hi. I have a WD Passport external HD, and when connected under Vista 32 is properly recognized. The connection is via USB 2.0. When I connect it under Vista 64, it starts hunting for drivers, doesn't find any, either locally or online, and it does not show on Explorer. This also happens with a flash drive Sandisk U3 Contour, recognized under Vista 32, not recognized in Vista 64. Thanks José

Need help with a delicate matter. . .
by Guest Tony Sperling- 3 replies

I just recovered from an issue that demanded Recovery Console and the aid of FIXMBR. As you can see, I'm here and all went well. However, running from a RAID set, it becomes an added irritation to digg out the floppy drive and disk with the SATA/RAID drivers just to boot from the DVD and fire up the Console. I know there is a method by which you can install the Console to HD, and I know that MS is having a page that describes this in detail but - honestly, I don't understand it - the prescription seems to lead me round in circles and I change appearance into being a breathing questionmark. Anybody here know of other resources that I can turn to, or altern…

Memory moved to page file after "lock pages" policy set
by Guest Michael Underwood- 0 replies

Hello. I am running Oracle on Windows 2003 x64. My server has 8 GB of memory and my database is configured to use a max 4 GB of RAM. I would like all that memory locked in physical memory and not moved out to the page file. I set the "Lock Pages in memory" policy for the user running the Oracle service. I've configured the server to use memory for system cache, and have set the "server optimization" setting on the file and printer sharing for microsoft networks to "maximize data throughput for network applications." Currently oracle.exe has approx 156 MB in physical memory and 3.3 GB in virtual memory. What gives? Is there another setting that I am…

problem formating hard drive
by Guest sri- 2 replies

I had only one partition on my hard disk with windows xp home edition. But I wanted to install xp professional as a new install instead of upgrade. It seems like the xp professional cd I have does not contain a boot file, even when I restart the computer with the cd in it and changed the BIOS settings to boot from cd, it is not recognizing any boot file. so it kept booting from hard drive. so I just installed XP professional with the instal option from the cd which never let me format the drive but installed xp professional on the same drive. So I ended up with a lot of waste files from previous xp. There was about 4 gb of memory that was freed because of …

I've had a yellow triangle for awhile on the 6TO4 adapter driver for Vista Business 64: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)" I tried to do a driver update and I have the most up-to-date driver. I couldn't find anything in the event viewer and when I tried to report the problem to Msft I didn't get any fix solution. Any ideas? TIA.

by Guest monkeytuesday- 10 replies

Hello everybody, Im running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit on a system built last year, Intel Core 2 Duo E6550, MSI P6N SLI-FI nForce650i SLI, 2GB RAM and ATI Radeon 1950XT. Since 2-3 months back i get a bluescreen about one a day, and for all different reasons. They seem to come at random, often when the computer is idle (usually with Firefox running), and occationally when i click something on the screen. The computer always does a memory dump and then reboots. The crash reporting thingy never finds any answer. crashcodes Ive noted: BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION APC_INDEX_MISMATCH MEMORY_MANAGEMENT IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL DRIVE…

3.5 gigs of RAM problem, yet I AM running x64?????
by Guest RyanK- 8 replies

Hey, very confused here, mostly because I don't think this always happened but, I have vista ultimate x64 installed yet out of my 4 gigs of RAM only 3.5 appear. Is there a way around this, I know from what I have ready that this is strange to say the least. Vista x64 is designed to work with up to 8 gigs of RAM.

You can view this information for your current running operating system, or for another operating system/computer - by using command-line options.
