Congratulate me. . !
by Guest Tony Sperling- 7 replies

I've just succesfully updated my BIOS (Asus M2N32) from version 903 to 1603! Oh, I know it's a trivial thing, and I've been doing this, largely since flashing was new, but this gives me the shakin' willies every single time! The system was stable, but they tweaked the memory timings a while back and this is the fourth or fifth update since, and I just had to try it now - I don't remember precisely, but I think Sandra upped the memory ratings and it makes me feel rather good right now. Anyway, when they eventually crack the Phenom difficulties, I'll be ready! Have a nice - whatever it is that you're all doing - I'm off to say 'Hello' to a bottle of I…

DEP on 64bit executables ?
by Guest Peter Lawton- 5 replies

On a Vista x64 machine when I try and set a DEP exception for a 64bit .EXE I get the error "You can not set DEP attributes on 64-bit executables" Does this mean DEP only works for 32bit executable files or that MS thinks that 64 bit executables will never try to do anything wrong? Peter Lawton

Printing problem "Thunking Spooler"
by Guest Miklaing- 7 replies
Not sure if this is a V64 issue, a windows printing issue, or a Canon issue, so I'm hitting all three to check for solutions: Looking for some sort of solution to this problem. First, I'm running Vista 64 ultimate. Windows generates the error whenever I try to start a CD label printing program for my Canon MP830. The whole message is "Thunking Spooler APIS from 32 to 64 Process has stopped working." Windows then does the solution check to no avail. I have attempted to uninstall/reinstall printer drivers and the software, but that has not resolved the issue. All updates are current. Anybody else run into this problem and able to resolve it?

I've called Microsofts pre-sales department > and he didn't say no.. he just said he can't find it! Hi, The operating system on my computer is Windows XP Professional x64 edition, version 2003, service pack 2. I am trying to install a DVD with a program that is supposedly written for a Windows 64 bit operating system. However, when I try to run the AutoExec.exe file, I get the error "D:\AutoExec.exe is not a valid win32 application" Why would the error say "is not a valid win32 application" when my operating system is 64-bit? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ringboche

32 bit app on a 64 bit machine ODBC?
by Guest Shootsie- 3 replies

I have an app that is written in VB 6 and uses an ODBC connection to connect to a data source. When I run the application on a 64 bit O/S, it does not connect to the ODBC. I have tried connecting to a 64 bit ODBC connection (SQLNCLI.DLL), and also connecting to a 32 bit ODBC connection (SQLSRV32.DLL) on the same machine and in both cases it does not connect and there is no error message either in the system logs or in the event logs. Please let me know if you need any more ifnormation. Thanks in advance!

Registry cleaner for Vista 1 2
by Guest nalanirak- 42 replies

I am using Vista Home Premium and have tried various registry cleaner, all of which have problems with the system. In trying to find a solution, I have read various discussions with regard to which is the best registry cleaner or wether to actually use one or not, and there doesn't any seem to be any answer that cannot be disputed in one way or another. Is it not time that Microsoft made a statment as to wether a registry cleaner should be used and if so which one. I'm sure there are lots of people out there doing damage to their systems and as a result Vista as an OS is getting the blame. Maybe Microsoft should produce one for their own system! -----…

Hello everyone. I know this subject has been touched on ad nauseam, but I still can't seem to get the full 4 gigs of RAM to appear in Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I am using K9A2 Platinum motherboard BIOS revision 1.1 AMD Phenom 9600 BE 2.3 Ghz Corsair XMS2 TwinX4096 (2x2gig) (Unganged) 2X Seagate 7200 RPM 250 gig (RAID 0) Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX 768MB Soundblaster X-fi Gamer. Everything is booting fine, but windows still shows only 3.25 gigs of RAM. Under system information in the BIOS, 4096MB is displayed. There is a setting under Advance DRAM configuration in the BIOS that says Software Memory Hole Remap. Whether or not I enable or disable it…

by Guest Max- 1 reply

I have a COM client that is a 64 bit application and a 32 bit COM server - local server (exe). Should it work this way on Windows 2003 R2 64 bit or is it something wrong with code in my client or with server registration. Currently it does work and I would like to find some kind of documentation that explains whether it is possible to run things this way or not.
