WMP300N x64 Driver
by Guest emarvets@gmail.com- 0 replies

Saw a bunch of unanswered queries getting the LinkSys WMP300N working on an x64 box. The first thing I found was this link from planetamd64.com: http://dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8726&sid=24d19925cf43f2715e092f3a5a59d5e1 It works fine, except that the "Original Broadcom Driver" link is dead. You can instead find it on OpenDrivers.com here: http://www.opendrivers.com/driver/240342/acer-aspire-2920-broadcom-wireless-driver-v4.100.15.5-windows-xp-free-download.html Download and extract the broadcom/acer driver files to a directory. Then overwrite the .ini file with this one: http://dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=1151&sid=ed92714c043174a…

While testing my security at GRC.com (ShieldsUp) I find that port 21 shows open. I'd like to close it but can't figure out how. I have the firewall on and have tried both settings on the block all access option. I also have a Linksys router with firewall turned on. I also tried changing the registry entry for ....DisableStatefulFTP with no luck. Any thoughts would be appreciated. BTW My Vista is 64bit, Ultimate. Thanks

Performance Slow after upgrading to 64bit server
by Guest Bill Evans- 6 replies

Hello. I recently upgrade from a 4-year-old Dell server to a Quad Core 64bit server for file serving. Since the upgrade I have noticed that the performance of file/folder access is not as it should be. It is very slow listing folder contents. The data drive on the server is about 1TB consisting of a few 300GB hard drives in a RAID5 array. Dell has been unable to help me resovle this issue over the last few weeks. They are saying the 1TB parition is too big and that we should not be using 5-300GB hard drives. However, that is the server they spec'd for us. Can someone help or shed some light on this? I have a hard time believing that an older ser…

ffdshow (x64 version) is getting continuous updates. http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=173941&package_id=199416&release_id=569930 Now programmer "clsid" brings us rev1805 which allows WMPx64, Windows DVD Maker and Movie Maker to decode properly those videos you cannot use due to their unsupported compression format. I am now using WMPx64 on a regular basis instead of WMPx86. Enjoy. Carlos

Installed 6 gigs of Ram in Vista Ultimate x64 and its slower now 1 2
by Guest kungfumonkeyman- 29 replies

When I first installed Ultimate edition I was only running 2 gigs so I went and purchased 2 x 2gig sticks and installed them. My computer has been running much slower than before so I thought that maybe one of the ram slots on my mobo was bad or that one of the new sticks was bad but I am reading all 6 gigs and I even swapped out all my chips in different slots and it seems that when I am running with just 2 gigs everything is fine, no matter if I am running with 2 x 1gig or with just 1 x 2gig. It is getting pretty annoying and was hoping that someone might have some advice on anything that I could try. Thank You

Vista 64 Bit Home Premium Media Centre playing DVD's from HDD
by Guest jwsplatjw- 1 reply

I would like to migrate my DVD collection from my player to my PC. I would also like to get prepared for the migration to Blue Ray HD movies. I realize I will need to get some new Hardware like some very large HDD's and confirm that my nVidia 6800 SLI pair can give me 1920x1080 output. The harware is the easy part for me. Where I am lost is with the software. Can I place a DVD in my DVD drive and just click RIP in Media Player and rip it to my HDD? Do I need some special software to allow me to manage my collection? I would hope that I can use the Media Centre to manage the files once they are on the HDD. Has anyone tried this yet? It seems like…

File Transfer Manager
by Guest Lee- 1 reply

I am a developer and use windows server x64 as my OS becuase that is the target os for my development projects. I have run into a problem getting downloads from msdn subscriptions in that the file transfer manager won't launch. It does no matter if I use 32bit IE or 64bit IE. I get an error saying that it cannot launch. I went to the website and downloaded it manually but that did not help, when I run the app I get a message saying that it is not the most current version, and won't download. I verified it is the correct version, and even tried reinstalling it but always get an error every where I go. I need my subscription content but don't have a 32 bit …

I bought this from my university about two years ago, and am now building myself another computer. I would hate to have all the parts get here and not have an OS to install on it, but can't find any reference to if my copy of XP pro is licensed for a second computer. Does anyone have an idea or a place for me to check? Thanks!

RE: 64Bit. How? Hi. I have a dual core P$, 3Gig and I was running xp and I purchased vista ultimate upgrade but it would only let me install the 32Bit disc. It came with the 64Bit disc but it wouldn't install. Did your's work straight away or am I missing something? I would love to finally be able to take advantage of my dual core because windows 64 was a sham and never worked (and it came with the pc). "Highdef2005" wrote: > I was running XP. I recently bought a laptop with Vista already installed in it. I also have an older laptop with XP professional in it and a lot of info. I wanted to transfer this info into the newer laptop, with no success. I later found out that i would have to have outlook and Office to be able to do so. I was also told that i could use the the existing outlook and Office from the XP. Is this possible? If so how?

by Guest Nukeguy- 12 replies

I am trying to load a fresh copy of XP Professional. I re-format the partition, I say okay to a fresh load, and it gets about 20 minutes into the load and I get an error message that states, "An error has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing...Unable to find file 'Manifest parse'." It then says click on OK to see the problem. How can I get past this error. It is like something is missing on my HD or XP disk. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Does Microsoft have a replacement upgrade disc (upgraded from 98 3-4 years ago) or do I have to repurchses the program? For that matterwould it be worth upgrading to some version of Vista. Since I do not have my XP disc, could I upgrade from my 98 dics?
