I setup Small Business Server Fax Services and it works with the 32 bit version of Windows XP Pro. I setup SBS to install the Fax Client on all our computers. It installs fine on the 32 bit machines but not the 64 bit. I can't find any relevant information on how to setup the Fax Client on a 64 bit XP Pro. Help!

64 bit programs going in x86 folder
by Guest AlanM- 4 replies

I have the 64 bit version of Vista Ultimate but when I install the 64 bit itunes (iTunes64Setup) the install goes to the Program Files (x86) folder and in the TaskManager is displayed as a 32 bit application (*32). I have the same issue with avast! antivirus. Is it possible that the application is actually the 64 bit version, but just getting directed to the wrong install folder (and thus showing up with *32 in the taskmanager)? I am not familiar with how to look at a dll or an exe to tell if it is 32 bit or 64 bit and it doesn't appear to be a property that is displayed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Alan

XP Prof. - Yesterday my Symantec Antivirus software informed me that I had a Trojan horse. There wer isntructions on how to remove, which I followed. 1. Turn off System Restore, Go to CMD prompt, type msconfig, go to boot.ini, change boot to boot in Safe Mode, restart computer. This is where I ran into a problem. When I rebooted in safe mode, I usually get a CNTRL, ALT, DLT screen where I need to enter username and password. I entered mine and I get an error, I can't get in now. Also tried changing username to "administrator" leaving password blank. Still can't get in. Also can't boot in normal mode. Attempted to by hitting F8 on start up. Will…

Using win2k3 std r2 32 bit license to install win2k3 std r2 64 bit

Hi all, we have freshly installed a new server with a new license of windows 2003 bought some days ago. The machine will be used as mail server with Exchange 2007. The problem is that at the moment we have tried to install Echange07 we have seen that this release is only for 64 bit operating system. Now the question is can we use the license win2k3 std r2 32 bit to install the 64 bit version of 2003.......and if yes is there a way to obtain a serial number for w2k3-64 bit from microsoft ? Many thanks Luix

2008 Not Backward Compatible?
by Guest AndreZ- 5 replies
Hello, I'm pretty new to the 64bit world, ok so new I've never installed it yet. My original understanding is that 2008 would have compatabilty support for 32bit programs. But what i've been reading here It does not seem that way. Can someone please point me in the direction that has some clarity? I'm considering going to a 64bit TS application server with 2008, and for the most part all of our programs should work fine. However there are a few small programs of which I'm uncertain. They are not complex programs, pretty much accounting or Record of employment programs.. but I'm worried they won't work.... Any tips/direction will be appreciated. Thanks …

New to 64-bit;General Questions
by Guest compsosinc@gmail.com- 3 replies

We need to purchase the 64-bit version of Windows 2003 Server Std Edition because of the 4GB memory limitation in the 32-bit version. This server will be used as a Terminal server with both thin-clients and thick-clients (XP Pro and Vista Business) connecting to it. We need to install MS Office 2007 and an accounting application on the TS. 1. Can 32-bit applications install & run on a 64-bit Server operating system? 2. In our particular application, are there any limitations/ disadvantages to the 64-bit version of the Server OS? Thanks

executing batch file from different folder not working ?
by Guest Skybuck Flying- 6 replies

Hello. file contents neuk.bat: program.exe console commands entered: cd c:\bla\bla c:\bla\bla\neuk.bat "can't execute program.exe" it says. This seems abnormal from ms-dos 6.22 days ? The batch file is supposed to execute the program.exe no matter from what folder the batch file is invoked ? Seems to be a bug ???? Or is this a new "security feature" ? ;) Bye, Skybuck.

I am currently running Vista Ultimate and want to go back to XP professional. I want to use the 64 bit OS but am not sure what hardware and software will not be compatible. Is there a Compatibility Tool or upgrade advisor I can run on my current Vista OS to see if the switch is worth it. I currently am running an Intel core 2 6400 @ 2.13GHz have 4gig of ram vista only sees 3. I will not consider going to Vista x64 because I think Vista is slower then XP and overall sucks.

My first Vista 64 Bit comatability issue
by Guest KevinD- 7 replies
OK, I've had Vista Ultimate 64 Bit going on my laptop for almost one year now and it has been absolute smooth sailing until last week. My company installed a new I/P based phone system from Shoretel and the Client based call manager will not run properly on a 64 Bit windows install. The Application uses the TAPI function, however when it installs it's drivers do not appear to load (I think). My question is does anyone have experience with this software, and if so has anyone found a work around. I've sent multiple emails to the Vendor and of course......no response. -- Kevin J. Danker

by Guest VertiTech- 6 replies

I recently had a HD failure and had to reload x64. Before the failure, all my games were working on x64, Joint Ops, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty 4, etc, etc.. Now, after reloading the x64 operating system, non of my games work. Activision states the game will not run on x64. HHHMMM, it was working before the HD failure. They don't believe me. Now non of the games work on x64. Any guesses?

Simple 64-bit vs 32-Bit
by Guest NC Beach Bum- 4 replies

Hi - We are going to be moving to Exchange 2007. I have always worked with 32-bit so the 64-bit world is new to me. I have several operational type questions related to the 64-bit world. The most important question - when a server is running Windows 64-bit does that mean all software to be put on that system must also be 64-bit as well? What about Win XP in 64bit? Do you know of a link that explains this new 64-bit world for folks who are new to it? Thanks! -- NC Beach Bum
