Does the method below also work for Vista 64, or only Vista 32? by Guest Kue2- 3 replies

On my system: My sound is now fixed,no more skipping hissing or hiccups. Nice to have clear sound again. Sleep mode is still broken( one of the updates from windows updates broke my sleep mode.) Sleep mode worked fine at one time on my machine...... Problem upon resuming from sleep, programs stop responding some just hang.Internet becomes slow very slow to respond. Only way I can recover is to shutdown which also hangs.I wait 5 mins.then reboot.System comes up fine. I cannot put the computer to sleep. Have not had any other issues since Sp1 was installed. I have not noticed an increase in boot-up time-speed. Comments? your experiences good or bad…

HP Officejet 7310 is junk
by Guest helpherb- 3 replies
I've had nothing but problems with the HP Officejet 7310 drivers running under Vista 64 bit. The most recent issue is that it becomes unrecognized as a USB device. HP has some "fixes" that are a total joke. Then there's the duplexor issue (pages "flip" wrong) and on and on and on. Can anyone recommend an all-in-one (print, copy, scan, fax) that has performed well under Vista 64 bit? Thanks!

How to report an issue?
by Guest Raybo58- 0 replies
How does someone report a specific issue to the appropriate MS OS maintenance team? I get an error that says "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information." Specifics: I get the above error when playing the game Half-Life 2: Episode One. After an exhuasting search I found what appears to be the answer I needed on the Steam website, which is to install a hotfix from MS. The problem is that the fix is not available for the x64 version of Windows XP Pro, but it is available for just about every other version. So naturally I would like to direct Micros…

Trial Version of Windows XP x64
by Guest Sam- 1 reply

I've been waiting two days for word back from Msft about how to proceed with my trial download. I filled out the proper form, and have a product key. I actually have two keys as I have tried this twice now. How long does it take for someone to get back to me?? I've also written using the "Contact Us" to try and get answers... did think I'd hear back, and guess what, I haven't. It's been over 36 hours. Frustrating. I finally found this forum after several dead links lead to "Discussion Group not found". Hope someone can help.

USB Mass Storage

I have just built myself a new computer and installed XP Pro 64. I am running 2 Samsung HD501LJ HDD's in a Raid0 (Striping) configuration. These are brand new drives and set as a bootable raid. They show on My Computer as a single disk (C Drive). In order to transfer files from my old computer I purchased an Akasa Integral USB Interface and installed a Maxtor 6 L200PO hard drive from the old computer containing all my files to transfer. Although when plugged in to a USB port the hardrive shows in the Device Manager and in the System Information it does not show as a usable drive in My Computer and therefore I cannot transfer the files from it. I would be g…

Hi, I want to load 32 bit xp on a 64 bit xp machine using virtual pc 2007. I have some application that will run only on 32 bit XP and need to run 64bit xp as i need to access more memory for autocad. Want to avoid dual booting. Is this possible? Will the 32 bit virtual machine behave like standard 32bit install or will there be any limitations? Anyone tried it? -- Srinivas Pyla

Vista SP-1 Changelog
by Guest Clayton- 1 reply
http://www.istartedsomething.com/20071208/vista-sp1-changelog/ I must say, most impressive, especially a.. With SP1, Windows Vista will report the amount of system memory installed rather than report the amount of system memory available to the OS. Therefore 32-bit systems equipped with 4GB of RAM will report all 4BG in many places throughout the OS, such as the System Control Panel. However, this behavior is dependent on having a compatible BIOS, so not all users may notice this change.

Been having a problem for a while now and MS hasn't come up with any solution. 3 machines on a P2P network. 2 x XP x64 and 1 x XP Pro x86, all worked well together for 6 months then the x64 machines couldn't contact automatic updates or google. all connect to the net via cabel broadband and a router tried to connect manually got to the site and tried to retreive the updates got an error. tried to troubleshoot the error but couldn't find it for XP. Some websites will connect first time others not at all. I pinged Google.co.uk got the http address, entered it in IE7 and went straight to the site, entered http://www.google.co.uk and it gave me a "cannot disp…

http://news.yahoo.com/s/zd/20071206/tc_zd/221141;_ylt=ArDMq2ihohdczzoht5RdY.SDzdAF Read the article above and you'll see why a lot of people don't trust Symantec/Norton anymore. I remember when Norton Utilities first came out - it was an excellent program at that time, but has really gone down hill since Symantec bought them. PC Tools wasn't bad either, but I preferred Norton.

Infrarecorder 0.44.1 released yesterday
by Guest Carlos- 11 replies

Infrarecorder is a lightweight freeware cd/dvd burning software. A newer version was released yesterday. http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/ x64 specific version download link: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/infrarecorder/ir0441_x64.zip?download (just 3 megs) Carlos P.S.: Yes, I am back. A little dizzy but fortunately the doctors didn't find any clogging in my heart system piping and no stent was necessary. I am back to square one with the root cause of my Angina Pectoris but my good heart didn't have anything to do with that (stress maybe?). Will take a few days off here in Buenos Aires and breath some air in the open.

Vista 64 Bit
by Guest Roy Laws- 8 replies

I would really like to enjoy the "benefits" of 64 bit, but upon installing it I found that absolutely NONE of my hardware manufacturers provide 64 bit drivers, and even my anti-virus programs will not work. Is this going to be a lame duck program as XP 64 bit turned out to be? Maybe that's why MS provides the disk free along with the 32 bit software. Maybe they hope if they get enough people complaining about it, the manufacturers will fall in line?
