by Guest Mike J.S.- 4 replies

I know Adobe's trying to convince the world that 64-bit isn't worth it to defend their decision to stick to 32-bit for CS3, but has anyone had any problems with Photoshop or Dreamweaver on x64? Any special x64 patches required?

I don't want to infringe MS rules and create problems with activation. I want to run triple boot with two copies of XP64 and one of XP 32 bit. All on different drives. I am already running 1 of each and want to have a clean uncluttered XP64 to hand. Does anyone in the know visualise any problems?

Sorry, folks!

Ahh, a fit of idiocy lost me the complete Win2K installation - including all the news and e-mail. Thus, I may forget to respond to posts I'd ticked off as 'watch' items. Nothing really catastrophic beyond that, (Not the RAID!) but a major pain non-the-less. And anyhow, 'sleeping is for amateurs'. Nights, at least. I was removing one of the dual-boot systems and just before copying the essentials - I just re-booted. I didn't want to do that at all. Thinking back it almost seems as if it did it on it's own. Naturally, it wasn't booting, and during the attempted rescue it reported my NTFS partitions as FAT - I honestly didn't know how to deal with that in…

Very misleading, unethical

I recently went on a mission to buy the best PC available for under $1,000.00 US... I did some homework prior to making what I thought was a good purchase. My objectives were simple. I wanted a 64-bit processor and a 64-bit operating system. I searched and searched and finally found the m8124n at Circuit City. This HP Media Center PC came with the 32-bit edition of Windows Vista Ultimate. I'd already read the following link http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/editions/64bit.mspx where Microsoft states "Note: 64-bit media is included in the box with Windows Vista Ultimate." So, I made the purchase and arrived home expecting to find …

by Guest Carlos- 7 replies

Surprisingly, 2 weeks after its regular monthly updates, MS has released more updates for Vista x86 and x64. Here they are: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?freetext=&productID=8D7DD8D7-1CA6-4632-BAEF-E7C0750ED02E&categoryId=&period=30&sortCriteria=date&nr=50&DisplayLang=en Or download them as usual from Windows Update. The three ones that were applicable to my PC were KB933360, 939159, 938952 Oddly enough, the first one is dated August 1st. Carlos

Restart bypassing Boot screen
by Guest Kue2- 12 replies
Here's a new one: This just started happening. When I restart in Vista 64 the restart process by passes the OS boot choices screen & goes directly to vista logon screen.(I have a duel boot system).LOL If I choose shutdown, then boot it goes to the OS boot choices screen. If I boot to winxp 64 then re-start it also by passes the OS boot choice screen & goes directly to the Vista Logon screen. LOL. I have to shut-down then boot to get the OS boot screen. How do I fix this? LOL This system amazes me,everytime I get a problem sorted out, a new one pops up LOL.

Sad but true, Another X64 tale.
by Guest sazzbot- 4 replies

Like many other before me, I decided it was time to get a 64 bit system. I got a combo from the "Geeks" which I placed in an old enclosure with a new power supply. The combo wouldn't load winxp 32, win 98 or anything else. It wouldn't even boot a hard drive with win xp on it. Good thing MS offered a trial 64 bit XP. I downloaded it, burned it, loaded it and "poof"! I have a 64 bit operating system. The video is on the motherboard and the LED mouse works fine as does the ethernet adapter (onboard as well). As a matter of fact, as an internet browser it's just great, but not noticebly better than my old socket A 1 gig duron set up. It's just wonderful! Ev…

I have the following files in my Windows Directory: 1 1,571,924 KB System File 3 651,148 KB System File 5 558,788 KB System File S 1,571,924 KB System File Y 1,571,924 KB System File They are taking up an inordinate amount of space on my system drive, and I would like to clean this up. What issues will I encounter if any or all of these are removed? I thought they were redundant swap files at first, but I have moved my "Pagefile" to the second partition on this drive which has plenty of room. I use this machine as a server, and didn't plan to have a lot of programs installed, so I only made the system…

Sun has a new update JRE6 u3 (prior was JRE6 u2) here: https://sdlc5d.sun.com/ECom/EComActionServlet;jsessionid=C1D62244A759F780ED1DC21149E8E82F A 14 megs download for the offline installation package. Download the file named jre-6u3-windows-i586-p.exe for any processor/xx-bit you may have. This version works with IE 32-bit. The 64-bit version (jre-6u3-windows-amd64.exe) still doesn't support IE 64-bit Uninstall any previous versions before installing the newer one. Carlos

FTP in Windows 2003R2 rejects user
by Guest Vectorrx7- 3 replies
I have posted a question about publishing websites using VS2005 and it is yet to be responded to, so I decided to try and setup the FTP option. The problem with FTP is that it sets up without issues but will reject the user due to bad username or password. When the user tries to cinnect using FTP, IIS shows that the user is connected yet the user gets rejected. I have even tried allowing the anonymous user and the same thing happens. The windows firewall is not running and the hardware firewall allows FTP connections to other servers when I change the mapping. Anyone?

Flash Player loading problem
by Guest BENAGLIA- 14 replies
I'm a satisfied user of Vista Business X64 / self assembled pc and have managed to sort all the driver issues that came with setting up the system and this forum helped a great deal from the begining. All my software and hardware work perfectly and the only problem I have is loading Macromedia Flash Player and Shockwave. I keep on being requested to load either one, IE then reboots as it should, and on returning to the initial web page I'm requested again and again to load either of them. I probably have a wrong setting but just can't figure out where or what I have to look for/change in order to load only once Flash and Shockwave. Thanks for your help and hope I'v…

Bugged Vista 64 default theme? Plus vanishing bin
by Guest Dean P- 3 replies

Hi all, ive not long purchased the OEM version of Vista 64 Basic and i was wondering if my default theme is bugged, its currently on Graphite with the Intensity on max and ive noticed that if a window isnt maximized the border is all shiny, yet if i then maximize the window (internet explorerer included) that instead of bieng shiny its a dark black. To me it seems like a bug due to the fact it isnt reflective at all... is it meant to be intended this way or does it need fixing? Also sometimes after ive deleted an item from the recycle bin the bin icon vanishes until i refresh the desktop.. do Microsoft know of this problem?

Running XP Pro 32 Edition w/out errors/problems on a 64bit chipset
by Guest design on Maui- 12 replies

Can Windows XP Pro 32 Edition run without errors/problems on a 64bit chipset? We purchased a new Dell dual processor xeon machine. The processors are Intel Xeon 5150 running at 2.66. Originally, we ordered the machine configured with for Windows Pro x64 Edition. Unfortunatly, some of our software and hardware would not run on Windows Pro x64 Edition. Dell sent us a CD to install Windows Pro 32bit edition. This computer has been plagued with problems and slow response to the most basic things like draging the mouse and opening dialog boxes. Additionally, if we open the properties for My Computer Windows only sees 3 GBs of 4 GBs of the ram installe…
