Sigh. Daemon Tools goes commercial or Adware only
by Guest Charlie Russel - MVP- 14 replies

The first sign of evil was the "search bar" that was automatically included if you didn't pay attention. But now they've made it mandatory for the Basic (free) version. No way will they EVER see a dime from me, and I'll now have to find an alternative to this useful utility that ran quite well in x64. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel

XPx64 and XPx86 on same PC
by Guest Martin G- 7 replies

Hi all We have one PC at work with x64 on it, however due to lack of drivers our IT man has put XP pro on it so it dual boots between x64 and x86, both versions of XP have been installed into the same partition and from studying this newsgroup I get the impression this could cause some problems. Can someone confirm this? or is this a supported configuration ? Last week I tried to boot into x64 and could not log in as the IT man has not set up the Domain so re-booted into plain XP, now when trying to use Internet explorer (which worked fine) I am told that the .exe file in Program Files/Internet Explorer is not a Win32 application, can this have been caused …

LCD Display switch OFF when selecting a DreamScene in Ultimate 64-
by Guest AyaBrea- 1 reply

Each version of Dreamscene ever released by Microsoft never worked on my system. It's sad. You choose to pay more to get the Extras goodies but the goodies just don't work at all. I just select a Dream, anyone from the Dreamscene Pack then my screen goes black with just a few signs of corrupted information then it close and I get a "No signal" message from ViewSonic lcd display and it switch to Off right after. I have to restart the computer so Dream DOES NOT WORKS at all. No fixes from ATI nor from Microsoft according to the results of my researches. You call ATI to get support or at least information, and they tell you at the speed of light to call…

MS Dynamics SL won't run under Vista 64
by Guest Steve170- 3 replies
Dynamics SL client ("Solomon"), according to MS, will not work w/ Vista 64 & they don't plan on rolling out a 64 bit compatible version. Ironically, all other 32 bit (even non MS) programs run fine. I *have* to run 64 for memory purposes (Adobe CS3) and my company is running the latest (7.0) version of Solomon for accounting. Any suggestions? I'm not very excited about have to use two separate PCs for obvious reasons. Any ideas would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

by Guest Alessandro- 2 replies

Hello all, First of all I apologize for my English, I am Italian and I am writing here because there isn't an Italian newsgroup on Windows 64bit edition. I have Windows XP x64 and I have installed an Italian MUI, I would like to create an installation CD which would already have this MUI integrated. A while ago I found the instructions on the internet, but now I can't find them anymore. How can I integrate the MUI on the CD? Thank you Alessandro

OT, Weird RAM question?
by Guest XS11E- 6 replies

I recently acquired a HP M7750N PC from Fry's Electronics because: 1. it was on sale CHEAP 2. it was on sale cheaper than trying to upgrade my old box So far, I'm VERY pleased with it, I formatted the HD to remove crapware, installed Vista Ultimate 64 bit and all is well but... On the HP site it says: Windows Vista comes in a variety of editions. All versions of Vista have a minimum memory requirement of 512 MB (1 GB to take advantage of certain premium features, such as Aero graphics). The maximum amount of memory depends on the edition used: Edition of Windows Vista Maximum addressable memory Any 32-bit version of Vista editions Approximately 3…

I have been trying to install XP Professional-64-Bit on my computer with no success. The processor in my computer, model a1640n, is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 and I’m told by HP it will accommodate a 64-bit OS. I have both a Windows xp Prof. x64 Edition CD that I have purchased and also a trial version that I downloaded from MS and I get the same result on my installation attempts. I get the following stop error: QUOTE A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check …

Keyspan ER-V2 RF Remote for Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit WMC
by Guest cheese- 2 replies

Anybody have any problems or successes with this? I can't get my receiver to pair with my remote. When I plug it in, Vista asks for a driver. I'm supposed to be able to pair it before that but it doesn't. The instructions say that I have to press the button on the receiver and the LED will come on on the receiver (it did). Then I'm supposed to press two buttons on the remote and the receiver is supposed to blink. It doesn't blink at all but stays constantly lit. I tried it on my roommate's Vista 32 bit and it works fine so I know it's not hardware. I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I have every possible BIOS, hardware, motherboard, Vista x64…
