i know there is a way to find my keycode once the software is installed, but the sticker on my laptop is unreadable (why they put it on the bottom i will never know), any ideas on how to get the keycode off the disk? i'm sure it's encrypted but short of paying for something i own already or worst case upgrade if i gotta buy, anybody? yes i do realize there is a potential for abuse and that is not what is happening here, if you want verification of who i am i will gladly submit it -- rf

running 32bit standard edition on 64bit hardware?
by Guest Mark- 2 replies

I just found out that the hardware that came uses 64bit AMD. But the Windows Server 2003 license is for Standard Edition; a 32bit version. What kind of performance hit would I take if I ran the Standard Edition on the 64bit hardware? Thanks, Mark.

Dual TV Tuners/Different Signals
by Guest John Adams- 3 replies
Does anyone know if it is possible to have two TV tuners, each with a separate type of signal? In other words, could I have one tuner on analog cable and the other on digital cable? Will Media Center tolerate this, or does it need them to be the same?

Quickbooks Running on 64
by Guest Hotfoot- 2 replies
Two glitches I am having atm: First I can not print out of quickbooks and any Vista fixes I have found only apply to 32 bit and dont work. (this seems to be a common problem I am running into with 64) Any ideas? The second is the download that happens each time you open QB and then IE tries open but fails. This one has not been as important - more like annoying!

How to use a 32-bit ODBC driver in Win 2003 x64
by Guest caboclo975- 4 replies
I have a 32-bit ODBC driver that I need to use in my application on Win 2003 x64 (I do not have a 64-bit driver available). I was able to set up the DSN for the 32-bit driver by going to "C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe". However, when I run my application it does not find the DSN. I am assuming that this is because as a 64-bit application it is looking on the 64-bit side to find the correct DSN and it isn't there. Is there a way that I can point to the 32-bit drivers instead? Or is there something else I should be doing? Thanks, Daniel -- caboclo975 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ caboclo975's Profile: http://…

by Guest Clayton- 3 replies

Back in the old days (last month) I was using Windows XP (32-Bit) and use to have a software package called Ontrack Data recovery, I use to use this software by plugging in drives to an external USB device and check for problems, repair and recover data for people and was very good, but now it doesn't work on Vista 64 and was wondering if someone could recommend something similiar? Thanks

by Guest paxo100- 5 replies

Bit of a novice here! Just bought new DELL-- with vista Whilst awaiting internet driver from Tiscali - using old PC currently - I either tried to copy a DVD made by a mate with unrecognised software are and more likely installed Video impression software for digital camera. Both DVD-ROM and DVD +-RW devices used to work before - now both show status 'Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing ( Code 39 ) Cannot go on l;ine from new PC to check solution. Also when checking driver details states latest driver installed. Removed Video Impression software but this made no difference Help! after only 3 day…

Problem: 4.77TB RAID 5 array is limited to 2TB of mountable space and 2.77TB of unmountable space. Attempted Solution: Researched Windows Server 2003 capacity limits, and was told to change disk-type from “Basic” to “Dynamic.” Results: Drive cannot be changed to “Dynamic,” option is greyed out and when attempting to use diskpart in the command prompt an error was addressed, “Diskpart cannot convert MBR disks larger than 2TB to dynamic.”

Event Viewer Windows does not display
by Guest Mike Wilson- 0 replies

I am not able to bring up the Event Viewer from the administrator tools. After acknowledging the UAC, nothing happens. The same is true of the task scheduler. The same behavior is exhibited when trying to start the event viewer from the command line. I doubt this has anything to do with administrator rights. I am able to bring up a few of the other tools, ie the odbc, iscsi... I did read one suggestion of running the sfc tool. There were a few items that it was not able to repair. I have pasted those below. Thanks for any help, or suggestions of how to track down this error. 2007-09-16 16:54:48, Info CSI 00000015 [sR] Cann…

64-bit software on 32-bit Vista ?
by Guest Tom3k- 6 replies
Hi, Autodesk's website says that their 64-bit 3ds max software is able to run on any version of Vista, as long as there is a 64-bit capable CPU. Is it true ? Will I be able to stick with 32-bit general computing on a 32-bit OS and benefit from 64-bit when doing some 3D rendering work ?

Hi Everyone, I installed Windows XP x64 on my computer, and it is working fine except there is no support for keyboards outside of the US. Re: Windows Server 2003x64 R2 ADPREP vs Windows Server 2003 SP1 DC I am having a similar problem, same error anyway, but my schema master won't run the adprep on R2 - it say's it wasn't made for it's version. My dc is running Windows 2003 Enterprise edition - all updates applied, but my X64 is only Standard - is that my problem? any workaround any one knows of? Date Not Displaying Properly
by Guest rocktrng- 4 replies

I'm running WinXP x64 Professional and have recently noticed a problem with "dates". When I hover over the time on the start bar ... no date pop-up will appear displaying the date. When I'm in windows explorer, no date (only time) appears in the details view for files in any directory/subdirectory (neither "date created" nor "date modified" fields display dates created/modified ... just times created/modified). When I look at the Date/Time Control panel, I see nothing but the number "1" (repeated 12 times) in the month drop-down list (it should list January, February, March, April, etc.). The calendar in the control panel appears to be the proper month…

Group Policy Management Console
by Guest Andrew Topp- 3 replies

This may be a silly question, but I'm out of ideas. I have a domain containing two Windows Server 2003 64-bit domain controllers. There are no other member servers, only client desktops. I need to be able to use the GPMC to create/edit GPOs in this domain, but since the GPMC has no 64-bit version, I don't see any way to do so. My personal workstation is not in this domain. Short of going to a client PC, installing the GPMC, and doing my work from there, is there any way I can create new GPOs for thos domain? Thanks, Andrew

by Guest Ronis- 7 replies

Hello, I just installed the trial version of xp pro 64 on my fully functional computer this morning (but onto a new HDD of course, I like my computer running after I break it). Anyway, after the complete installation, I was unable to connnect to the internet via my home network. I have a linksys router and when I open IE and typed http://192.168.1.1 nothing happened. I then clicked start-run-cmd and typed ipconfig and got no responses. I opened my device manager and my network adapter (onboard - A8N-SLI) did not have any problems, but I had 3 yellow ? under other devices - multimedia adapter (thus no sound); other pci bridge; unknown device. I reins…
