Hi everybody! Friends, I'm not able to make a connection from W2003S 64b to Oracle 9i or 10g version, I've already instaled the oracle clients of both version, but it does't stablish the comunication (using OLE DB driver or creating an UDL connection). I saw some websites that showed me somethings about path directory using parentesys (Program Files (x86) for exemple) and some ways to install the oracle clients, but all my tests returned fail. Nota: The TNSPING is running normaly and this connection runs in a 32b OS. Can someone help me or has already seen something like this? PDF iFilter in Vista x64?
by Guest John Adams- 3 replies
I'm running Vista x64 Ultimate on a brand new system. I noticed in the Index advanced options that it lists the pdf file type as usual but the text to the side says "Registered IFilter is not found". Accordingly, pdfs are not searched in their text and their icons do not show sample images. Is this a common problem for Vista x64 or something wrong with my machine? - John

We have a small network with a single macintosh computer. The printers are both attached to the windows vista machine. I've shared both of these printers on the vista machine, and the mac can see them. However, the mac isn't able to successfully send a print job to the printer. Any idea why that is? Thanks! Fletch

Setting up multiboot configuration (XP-H, XP-P x64, Vista Ult.)
by Guest geraintwd- 10 replies

Hi, I have a PC currently running XP Pro x64. As there are some programs that will not run or install on this platform, I want to set up a dual boot with Windows XP Home. I also have Windows Vista Ultimate and would like to set this up as well. I have 3 separate hard drives and I know that I need to install Vista last, but can I install XP Home on another drive and have it dual boot with Pro 64, or do I have to uninstall Pro 64 first before installing Home? Any tips you can offer would be gratefully received. Thanks G

The boot volume on a DL585 server with a SmartArray 5Si adapter is being created with a 32 sector offset. This is seen under Windows 2003 64-bit using Symantec Storage Foundation for Windows Basic 5.0. Every other device created under Windows has a 63 sector offset. Even other drives created using the same SmartArray controller start at an offset of sector 63. I cannot mirror the system volume as a dynamic disk mirror when the offset is under 63. My questions are: 1) Is the 32 sector offset seen on the boot device a side effect of using the "Enable >4GB" boot volume BIOS option for the smartarray? Is there a way I can change that set…

Print server with Windows 2003 64 bits ? PSE HELP
by Guest Olivier- 1 reply
Hello, We are expecting to buy a Windows 2003 R2 print server, but a 64 bits based system I am making a first analyze, and need your help All of our printers will be configured on the server, and then shared to be acceded by the Windows XP client with point and click Here is the catch: Our Windows XP are 32 bits system, so I expect point and click will not work, because 64 bits drivers installed on the 2003 server will not run on them Second potential problem: Some of our printers are old, and the 64 bits drivers not exist. So it will be not possible to use them on our print server Best regards, Olivier

GUID partitions
by Guest Michael Kantor- 10 replies

Hello, I am in the process of building a file server with 8 750GB drives running in RAID5 for a volume of 5.25TB. It got the computer up and running with XP Pro 32-bit, but once the array was built, I realized that it will not go past 2TB. This is a huge problem, and I did not anticipate it because I read that NTFS supports far over 2TB, but had not encountered information about the distinction of MBR and GUID prior to seeing this problem. Please answer these questions for me if you can: 1. I read that XP Pro 64-bit would support the GUID partition. Does it also need an Itanium chip to do this, or will it work on Core2 Duo? I read some notes on Ita…
