FTP Connection Refused By Remote Host
by Guest razor- 5 replies

Hello-- We are in the process of migrating our IIS server from W2K3 to W2K3 64-bit and we cannot figure out why we can no longer ftp into the new IIS server from within the same subnet? the FTP service is started, and the FTP Sites is started in IIS. From a command prompt, if I enter in "ftp <server IP address>" we get a messages that says connection refused by remote host. If we try to use an FTP program, the connection just fails. I used the 'netstat -an' command on the IIS server and it shows port 21 is listening. Any help would really be appreciated.

SetupAPI fails to find pscript5.dll on Vista 64Bit
by Guest Markus- 1 reply
Hello, I am installing a PostScript Printer Driver (pscript5.dll + .ppd) using a custom inf file. It should install on all current operating systems (Windows 2000, XP, 2003 Server, Vista) and as well on x86 and x64 Systems. I use the Setup API to install it from a windows installer package. It installs well on x86 Windows without prompting for files. But when I install on x64 Windows (32 Bit install program), it fails to find pscript5.dll. Even if i add C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\DRIVERS\X64 to the source list programmatically (using SetupAddToSourceList), it will come up with a prompt asking me for it's location. If I select C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\D…

What to build
by Guest andreasj64- 3 replies

I'm a fairly tech savy kind of person, but have been out of the scene for a while. My question is about 64-bit machines vs 32-bit machines. While I see there may be a few compatability issues, technically, should my 32-bit software work on a 64-bit OS/machine? (ie. dreamweaver, flash, office xp, fireworks, illustrator... etc.)

by Guest Kue2- 4 replies

I went on utube last night & played a few videos. After I had played about 3 & clicked on another to play.IE7 (latest updates applied) decided it had enough & popped up a box informing me the it had to close. My only option was to click "ok" button. This has occurred twice now using IE7. The other time I had 3-4 windows open in IE7. Same option only able to click "ok" button & IE7 closed completely. No error messages or explanation. Anyone else getting this odd behavior? Comments? Fixes?

Display problem
by Guest XS11E- 16 replies

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64bit and my video card is a nVidia GeForce 6200 LE. I installed Vista using the built in drivers but had continual problems with the monitor going black and then coming back on with a message that the display had stopped but recovered. It would do this, for example if I changed volume during a playback on WMP. The playback stopped, the screen went black and then came back on with the message, a few seconds later playback resumed. It got pretty annoying so I went to EVGA's site and downloaded the latest and greatest, now the display flickers badly or goes black as before but I don't get the message so the updated driver…

DVD-RW problems
by Guest Josh- 1 reply

My LG GSA-H50-L DVD writer has worked in the past on my Vista 64bit system, but has now decided not to work. I didn't do anything with the harware. The power is still connected, and if I disable all the drivers, vista recognizes the ATA device and attempts to install the drivers. At that point, it says it fails, and in device manager, it reports that it doesn't work because the drivers are missing or corrupted. No software comes with the drive b/c I thought it uses generic drivers. Is there somewhere I can download these generic drivers so that it can install them next time?

Intermittent file copy failures
by Guest BrentM- 0 replies

Hello, I have an issue whereby only after moving the server to Win2k3 x64 the file copy is failing. It is in the same environment as before being used just as it was before now only x64. In the past there wasn't a problem when it was x86. We're copying a SQL backup file from the server to a network drive on a x86 server. I have partially resolved the problem in that some of the errors that were being logged in the event log were caused by NetBIOS issues (changed the setting to use NetBIOS over TCP/IP). There was a period where it was always failing after the same amount of time but that is not not the case. the original x86 server still exists so I've …

DVD RW Vista 64 Compatibility
by Guest Seamus- 3 replies

Can someone please tell me a DVD-RW drive that properly burns media under Vista Ulimate 64 Bit? I have a Sony DRU-170C (which has a "Works with Vista" sticker by the way) which does NOT burn under Vista 64 bit. It works just fine under 32 bit, but not 64. So, does anyone know of a burner that really does work fully with Vista 64 bit? If so, please let me know so I can trade mine in for one that actually burns.

Does anyone know of a list of the default, out of the box print drivers that ship with x64 Windows 2003? I'm trying to determine the level of out of the box printer support in x64 as opposed to x32. I need to know what drivers are included in x32 but not in x64 and vice versa. To my surprise, I can't find this information anywhere. Any help greatly appreciated.

OS Terminal - Parallel Install?

My OS is down, has been corrupted, and is not recoverable, according to Dell tech support. They recommend a fresh install but my data is not backed up and I cannot lose it. My question is, is a parallel install a viable option? Or is it too risky for someone who is not technically advanced? Thanks, Bob
