Program uninstalled, but it remains on HD and in "Add/Remove Progr
by Guest Amaw Opaw- 4 replies

I recently uninstalled Nero's "Home Essentials" program and used their registry "cleaners" to make sure the program is removed. However, I see in the "add/remove" panel that it's still there and supposedly taking up 400 MB of space. The panel does not allow me to change or remove it, and manually deleting the folder does nothing; it respawns every time I start up my computer. I've even tried using Abexo's registry cleaner, but I'm afraid I may have to go into the registry manually and clean it out that way to fully get rid of Nero. Any suggestions? I'm stumped.

Slow copying of files
by Guest James R- 8 replies

We have a problem copying files from Windows Server 2003 64-bit to our local desktops running Windows XP. For a large number of the desktops, a file copy of 60 Mb from the server to the local drive can take about 30 minutes to complete. For other desktops of the same OS, the same file can be copied in about 5 seconds. For the ones the copy slowly, they can copy that same file from a Windows 2003 32-bit server or another desktop in 5 seconds. We have even moved PCs around to swap the network ports used and the problem follows the PC. We have standardized our desktop and server hardware so the problem should point to something in the software. There is some…

Does anyone know how I can get the 32-bit version of IE to run with the 64 bit. I have a huge problem with Adobe Acrobat running a 32-bit activeX on the new machines that came with the 64 bit processor? Supposedly the machines were suppose to come bundled but they did not. Here is what I found on the adobe website so you will understand my issue in greater detail. -- Cannot open PDF within Internet Explorer 64-bit version Internet Explorer 64-bit and 32-bit versions are both bundled with Windows XP 64-bit and Windows Server 2003 x64 systems. by Guest Matt- 5 replies

Just treated myself to a new laptop. it claims to have a 1 gig memory, but when I check my properties, it only show 766mb. BIOS shows even less at 633. Have I been duped by Acer, or is this something in Vista (home prem)? My taskmanager memory is running at 70% with no apps running, v poor performance! Also, how do I get the best from my processor? I suspect I am operating at 32bit.

4GB in WOW
by Guest onequestionone@yahoo.com- 6 replies

Dear All, My question is, can I allocate 4GB of physical memory when I run my 32bit application in Windows 64bit edition in a machine that has 16GB memory. I already tried allocating of 3GB by configuring 32bit windows but I need more. I think it may be possible because in 64bit I don't have 1GB OS preallocated and WIN64 is running from somewhere else. My program is a in memory database and need not to use virtual memory and all its data should be in physical RAM. Thanks for any reply, John
