Hi! From time to time a scanner can be handy - but as I am using XP x64 and own an Agfa SnapScan e52- Scanner I lack a driver to use my own scanner. I know that Agfa has stopped any support for their scanners. But maybe somebody found out another way (anotherdriver) to use that scanner with XP x64!?? Thank you! Bernd Leutenecker

Hi, I always thought there should be a very good reason for this not being actual in Windows, but maybe there isnt none, indeed: + to be able to use arrow keys to move the mouse cursor. ++ u could have a key to ignite it and the number of clicks on the key before holding it to set the speed of that movement. +++ com'on move. Recycle bin global setting bug?
by Guest Thierry- 1 reply
I have Windows XP x64 installed on two physical machine. I want to globally configure the recycle bin to "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin. Remove files immediately when deleted", and "Do not display delete confirmation dialog". But Windows just act as if the opposite was configured. Files go in the Recycle Bin, and the delete confirmation comes up each time I empty it. I have tried several workarounds that don't work. (I hate using the recycle bin!) I am thinking that maybe there is a registry key for this? Anyway, I think this is a bug...

New PC - what do I do?
by Guest 3KINGS- 6 replies

I just bought a pc from an estate sale. The only thing I know is that it has Windows XP Pro installed. My current pc is running Win XP Home. What are the important differences I need to know between "home" and "pro"? Also, how do I find out what video card it has, memory, sound card, processor speed, and frontside bus speed (basically, how powerful is it)? If you are so inclined to help me out I would also like some opinions about the different settings I should set such as virtual memory, graphic accelerater, etc. Let me thank you in advance for any help you offer.

64 Bit Registry Uninstall Information
by Guest Matthew Wieder- 5 replies

I wrote an MSI package that used the path found at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0\InstallLocation to determine where the .NET bin directory was installed. However, on 64 bit systems, that path no longer exists. Where is the new location which gives the uninstall information on a 64 bit system, so I can find the installation path?

Best way to install Vista 64?
by Guest XS11E- 11 replies
Taking a deep breath..... OK, I'm about ready to install Vista Ultimate 64 as the OS on new harddrive. It's been up and running on my current dual boot setup for some time and all the problems seem to have been solved so... new harddrive is installed as slave, partitioned and formatted. Files I need and partitions I need are copied over to partitions on the new harddrive leaving a 20G partition for the new install of Vista. XP won't be installed. I'm ready to change the new HD to master and install the OS. I can't decide which is the best way to install and that's where you guys can help me decide. One way is to use Acronis True Image to put my c…

Upgrade from 32 to 64-Bit Vista Home Premium
by Guest Hidde van der Kooij- 3 replies
I purchased a laptop and it is a 32-Bit Home Premium and I got a program (TuneUp) which claims that I have a 64-Bit processor. My question is, how do I upgrade from 32 to 64 and what would happen. My processor is 64-Bit but maybe some other important hardware on my computer is 32-Bit and will not allow the upgrade from 32 to 64 and will not work any more. Is there some program written by Microsoft which can assure me that nothing will go wrong if I upgrade?

Motorola phone x64 drivers available
by Guest Carlos- 0 replies
This is not brand new. Motorola has x64 drivers (both Vista and XP) for their mobile phones via USB connection. This is the web page (both x86 and x64 links): https://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/ If you can't access because you have to register, just do it. It is quite simple. This is the d/l page for the x64 drivers: https://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/Handset_USB_Driver_64/ Barely a 3 megs download (June 26th, v2.9.0) This way you will be to use your phone with your favourite phone manager software, eg, Mobiledit, etc. I wish I could find something similar for my Siemens mobile! This Briefcase requires a newer version of the software
by Guest thecreator- 0 replies
Hi All, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. I have installed the Evaluation version, which is fully updated. However, using a Briefcase to contain my Downloads, rather than a simple Download Folder, I can open the New Briefcase on the Desktop with no problems. With the Briefcase closed, I attempted to save a download into the Briefcase Folder, so the Briefcase is not in use, but I get that message in the Subject line. The operating system is installed in a seperate partition, by itself and is not sharing anything at this time. -- thecreator

Windows XP-64 backup
by Guest Arthur MacLeod- 1 reply

I am trying to use the backup utility that shipped with Windows XP-64 Professional. Windows on this Dell 470 64 bit computer is up to date, service pack 2. When I try to run a normal backup, I get the following fail message: Volume shadow copy creation: Attempt 1. Timeout before function completed While searching through the internet, I read that 32-bit backup programs running under a 64-bit operating system will not work. Is this true of the backup utility shipped with my OEM version of Windows? I was using a 32 bit Windows XP until the hard drive for that system failed. I installed a new (second) drive and decided to install Vista 64 …

Windows 2003 x64 sp1 Without rebooting, how can I tell how many procs my box has? Task manager shows 4, system info shows 4, and I "think" I have 2 dual-core procs. I need to know for sure, without bouncing the box. I also want to make sure that 1 dual-core hyperthreaded proc doesn't show up as 4 procs. Thanks, Andre
