  1. Hi; Try running the scanner from http://www.crucial.com/ You don't have to buy from Crucial but it should tell you what you need. It will show you what ram is guaranteed to be compatible.
  2. Good to hear Bazza. I knew it would be a tedious process. I have used Handbrake before but not the function you used. Thanks for letting us know how you resolved the issue.
  3. Good to hear Joddle. I always forget some detail too when I add a computer to my network. Eventually I remember how.
  4. Not having used Avidemux I can't say for sure. You could try adjusting the delay for split sections to get those sections working right then join the files together.
  5. It sounds like the original files were corrupt and out of sync. It's probably going to take some work and patience. There are premier programs like Adobe Premier that will do it but it's not free and whatever you use will take some work. Although I have not used these programs you can try them. Audio to video synchronization This article has some suggestions and programs you can try. At the bottom of the article is a link to another article Fix Audio Delays Permanently Using VLC & MKVToolNix that you can try. Download Links: Avidemux MKVToolNix As I have not used these programs look carefully during the installation so you don't get any bundled software just to be safe.
  6. To reinstall Windows on a HP/Compaq you might want to use the recovery media or recover from the hard drive. These instructions should be similar to yours. HP nc6300 Maintenance And Service Manual If you use a full Windows 7 set of disks instead of the recovery media you will need the product key supplied with the disks and the product key can only be activated on one computer at a time. So if it's already in use it would need to be de-activated on that computer first before you can use it on this computer.
  7. Hi Bazza; I'm a little confused by your post but I'll try to answer as best I can. Mp4 usually designates a audio/video file. Mp3 is audio only. If you are trying to overlay a sound file on a video file, such as adding sound to a movie, then Windows Live Movie Maker can do that easily provided the sound file is Mp3. It supports Mp3 and Mp4. Movie Maker can also join Mp4 files together but when you save the results it will convert them to WMV or you can burn them in DVD format. So if you're trying to join mp4 movie files together and add mp3 sound then movie maker will do it and save it as .wmv instead of .mp4. There are other programs too. This is just one. Note that Windows 10 is not listed as compatible but I've heard it works.
  8. Right click the folder and select properties. Click the security tab. This will show if the other computers have access. I use the word "Everyone" on my computers so I don't have to add the other computers names individually. If you're using a workgroup instead of homegroup do the same for the sharing properties. It might be a good idea to look at advanced sharing>permissions also. Again I use "Everyone".
  9. If your Windows 7 disk is a full installation disk the key will be on the disk or disk case. If that were the case then you could transfer the license to a different computer. However since you said the key was on the computer itself this would suggest that the disk is a oem disk or recovery disk which will not allow an installation to any other computer unless it was the same make and model series. Just swapping out the drives will not work either. Your best option is as Nev says. Connect the old drive for data recovery.
  10. Usually the issue is either an incorrect password or the email settings themselves are wrong. What email won't work? Is it your isp email account or a different one? Different email accounts can have different settings which we might be able to find for you. If your mail account is from your isp (internet service provider) then the password would be the password you use to access the internet with them.
  11. I think Roxio9 is too old for Windows 10 too. For basic CD or DVD burning such as for data, pics, media files etc. Windows can do it for you. There are a number of different ways to do this. What I do is select the files I want to burn then I right click them and select send to. Select your CD/DVD drive and your off to the races. What type of files do you need to burn?
  12. It may be asking for the Security Key such as the WPA2 security key. If the router is setup with security, and it should be, then you need to enter the key in order to establish a connection between a device and the router. If you have a Windows 7 computer already connected to this router then you can view the key on your computer. Open Network and Sharing Center in the Control Panel or by clicking on your network icon in the notification area of your taskbar. Next on the left side click Manage wireless networks. You should see your Network. Right click on it and select properties. Click on the Security tab. If you see that there is a Network security key tic the box Show characters.
  13. An email client is a program used to send and receive mail from a email provider. Yahoo mail is a provider. With free yahoo you can't set up a client to work with it. If you're paying for yahoo mail you can. If SKY/Yahoo is part of your internet service it may be possible. If you go to a web page to access your mail then you are not using a client. Examples of email clients are Microsoft Office Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Windows Mail, Thunderbird, Pegasus etc.
  14. A lot of things to consider that I don't know. Have your friend send himself an email to see if the issue is on his end. It could be his Kodak scanner settings if he is using a function to scan and mail or possibly it could be his mail server or email client. If he is using a email client such as Windows Mail then he might be using "add a picture" function which might embed a picture in the body of the email. If selecting to add a picture as an attachment the picture will not be embedded. Depending on the recipients email or email client an "add a picture" function from the sender might still translate to an attachment on the receivers end. Having used various web mail and email clients it can make a difference as to how pictures are received no matter how they are sent as to viewing in the mail body or as an attachment. Outlook Mail or the old Hotmail really sucks. DTSM in this particular instance I have to disagree although it is rare for me to disagree with you. A .jpg file is already compressed. I have used the built in Windows function to Send to a compressed (zipped) folder with .jpg files and the reduction in file size was very minor since the .jpg is already compressed. email clients are usually setup by default to receive pictures in the mail body in most clients. With webmail they often get converted to attachments these days.
  15. I checked my Yahoo mail and I can select to forward a single mail without opening it but if I select more than one email the forward option is not available. So then I checked my email client which is Windows Mail and it does let me select more than one email without opening them and I can forward multiple emails.
  16. I see that now and your reply was more complete than mine.
  17. Hi Ray; Have you tried using the "Hide update" option for the Windows 10 upgrade?
  18. Just to let everyone know. This site has been experiencing intermittent issues lately. Occasionally pages will not load.
  19. Hi Nev. The Group Policy Editor might not be an option on the home version. I think you have to have Pro.
  20. I'm not a malware expert but I have seen cases in the past where malware has prevented updating Windows and AV's. Sometimes even after removing the malware other steps are needed to repair the leftover damage. Like Plastic Nev said if you have any doubts the experts can take a look for you.
  21. The only other thing I can think of as a workaround is to selectively print. When choosing to print a job most printer software gives you the option to select which pages to print. For instance if you want to print a 6 page job and fit it to 3 pages on both sides select to print only pages 1, 3, 5. Then choose the same print job and to print pages 2, 4, 6 after reinserting the stack into the printer with the stack inserted the right way and in the right order. It can be a pain because I always forget which direction and order to reinsert the stack on my inkjet. That's why I made a file to instruct and remind me so when I use my outdated greeting card programs or text print jobs. I don't waste paper or card stock. Like you I like to limp along my old hardware and software to save money. I think it was Benjamin Franklin who said "A penny saved is a penny earned." And if that penny is invested wisely it can turn into 2 pennies earned. No wonder people call me cheap. :)
  22. That appears to be the right driver. HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL5 (64-bit) 5.9.0.18326 ---11 Dec 2014 I understand that you don't want to replace the printer. It was a decent printer but it dates to 2003. The problem is that there is not much incentive for a company to spend much time or money supporting hardware that old. XP was the OS at the time. The original drivers supported Windows 98 to XP. As I said before this is probably a case where the Windows 10 drivers just don't support all functionality. If that is the case the only option I know is to use Manual Duplexing as described in the following article which is quite old. http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-bpl12914
  23. I can supply another method of navigating to the page or I can even modify the support page manually with pictures but it is cumbersome but I will do so if needed. However now I too am having trouble with the links or getting all the pictures to load on the above post when accessing from this site. Refreshing the page or backing out and reloading the page does seem to help with getting the pictures or links to work. This may be an issue with FPCH having trouble parsing the links which I hope is temporary. I will do my best to get you the links one way or another. If need be I will email you the link but only with your permission. Do not post your email here. Spammers would like that.
  24. If the above does not display correctly try these: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/action.process/public/psi/troubleshootDisplay/?sp4ts.oid=238320&javax.portlet.action=true&spf_p.tpst=psiContentDisplay&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&spf_p.prp_psiContentDisplay=wsrp-interactionState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c02005997%257CdocLocale%253Den_US&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken Click the link below link and select "view all documents." http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/public/psi/troubleshootResults?sp4ts.oid=238320&ac.admitted=1443080187404.1123376534.492883150 Then you should see the link below. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/troubleshootResults/?sp4ts.oid=238320&spf_p.tpst=psiContentResults&spf_p.prp_psiContentResults=wsrp-navigationalState%3Daction%253Ddoclist%257Cviewall%253Dtrue&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken Either way click on "Unable to Print in Color or Unable to Auto-Duplex (Two-Sided Printing Fails) after installing the UPD"
  25. That's strange the link works for me. Maybe it's because it's a US support page. I'll try the link again and a copy. If that does not work I'll try another method. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=238320&docId=emr_na-c02005997&docLocale=en_US HP Color LaserJet Printers - Unable to Print in Color or Unable to Auto-Duplex (Two-Sided Printing Fails) after installing the UPD Issue After installing the Universal Print Driver (UPD) to use with an HP Color LaserJet Printer, pages do not print in color and/or you cannot automatically duplex or print 2-sided (supported models only). NOTE: If you are unable to automatically duplex, make sure that you are using the latest HP UPD available (5.3 or later), that your printer is configured to Auto-duplex, and verify whether your printer model supports manual or automatic duplexing. For more information, check your user guide or go to support document Configuring Auto Duplex/Printing On Both Sides (c01906875) (in English). Solution 1. Make sure that you are using the latest HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) available (version 5.3 or later). 2. Open Printer Properties and verify that the print driver indicates color support in the driver on the General tab. If the Color: setting in the Features section on the General tab is set to No, the driver is not configured to print in color. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/imageServlet;jsessionid=EEA4007E084CE0682DB8E71D36BFBD7B.tomcat6-c2t00711?DOCID=emr_na-c02005997-10/c03085634.jpg 3. If the Color: setting in the Features section on the General tab is set to No, click the Device Settings tab, and under Installable Options, click Automatic Configuration: Off (the default) to display the drop-down list, and then select Update Now to perform an Automatic Configuration. The driver sends an SNMP command to the printer to retrieve the device information. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/imageServlet;jsessionid=EEA4007E084CE0682DB8E71D36BFBD7B.tomcat6-c2t00711?DOCID=emr_na-c02005997-10/c03085635.jpg NOTE: If you have a product model such as the HP Color LaserJet CP2020dn / CP2025dn that supports automatic duplex printing (some models are manual-duplex only), the Duplex Unit (for 2-Sided Printing): option should read Installed. If it does not read Installed, the Automatic Configuration process that you perform to correct the color issue should resolve the issue when you click Update Now. 4. If the Auto Configuration fails (UPD version 5.0 and later), the UPD will default to the Monochrome setting. To resolve this issue, manually change the printer type setting. On the Device Settings tab, click Device Type: Auto Detect to display the drop-down list and then select Color. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/imageServlet;jsessionid=EEA4007E084CE0682DB8E71D36BFBD7B.tomcat6-c2t00711?DOCID=emr_na-c02005997-10/c03085636.jpg 5. If after the Automatic Configuration the Duplex Unit (for 2-Sided Printing): option reads Not Installed, manually change it to Installed. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/imageServlet;jsessionid=EEA4007E084CE0682DB8E71D36BFBD7B.tomcat6-c2t00711?DOCID=emr_na-c02005997-10/c03085760.jpg 6. Click the General tab to verify that the Color: and/or Double-sided: settings under Features are Yes, click Print Test Page to confirm, and then click OK to save the settings. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/imageServlet;jsessionid=EEA4007E084CE0682DB8E71D36BFBD7B.tomcat6-c2t00711?DOCID=emr_na-c02005997-10/c03085637.jpg
