It was a swap from one laptop to another both had operating systems installed. One just had failed ram so swapped the hard drive out

Hi I have two laptops both of which worked fine but one has a memory issue so swapped the hard drives over but now it is saying no operating system on the hard disk. Any advice?

Hi Ken Have tried all of the above I’m afraid. Unit only has one stick of RAM is it possible that this is faulty and causing the issue?

Any ideas what the fault could be: HP 15-ac151sa When turned on you can hear the fan spin etc but it does not appear to boot, screen stays blank and the caps lock key continually flashes.

Ok so from my understanding i should connect my hard drive to another pc, set it as the slave drive and then reset the password via the command prompt method from that master hard drive. Does this sound correct?? thank you

Hi Ken, Im afraid I did not I have tried using the command prompt through my sons limited account but it just pings back an error 5 message and will not allow a password change. I have also tried pressing ctl-alt-del twice but the administrator password is not the default blank one. I think this may have been changed in the shop where I had the pc built, which has since closed down :(

Can anybody help, I have tried to start my old pc to get hold of some information and pics from it. But i have forgotten my password and am unable to log in. It is unfortunately also the administrator account. Is it possible to do this without losing anything on the hard drive??

hi just a quick one (i hope) i have just been given an extra modem/router. i have plugged it into a spare phone socket in my sons room so he can play his xbox online. but when both modems are running i can not get the home pc and/or the xbox to connect. Is this because there are 2 modems in one line or is there a simple way around this????

sorry not replied sooner my pc was custom built and has an abit SG-72 the sound is fitted onboard. and i already have sp3 on xp pro

have had to do this once before as the pc was given to me and there was no driver for the sound card but I did not have this problem then

Hi, I have in the last couple of days had to format my hard drive and reinstall xp pro. Just started adding my programs etc back on, but noticed last night when on the web that i was not getting any sound from the speakers on my moniter. As it is a new moniter (well not that new just that I bought it a couple of days ago) thought that it may be that but when i plugged my speakers in found that there was no sound there as well. have gone to Volume Control it comes up with the following message volume control --------------------------- There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware. This program will now close. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- Followed the message and there is only printers and faxes or add hardware in the control panel both of which can not seem to fix the problem. well this is the strange part the first few times it did not ask to be formatted so think your view on the reader on the printer may have caused an issue with a few of the pics

got a new camera took some pics removed the card placed ib card reader on my printer printed a couple i needed asap then put bach and done same again but this time whem i put it back in the camera it asked to format the card (which i did not do) so put in a card reader and plugged into mt pc which is saying no files. i have tried a few programs and the pics are there but the ones that show the pics will not copy and the ones that do have slight display issues on a few of the pics
