  1. Well, Im closer to becoming a distribution. PC/OS is wrapping up forartwork and functionality. If you have been lucky enough to get a copystay tuned. Im going to answer some questions here.* What users I dohave are all happy with the results thus far. Why start your own distribution? None of the distributions out there fit me. I would have to spend a couple of hours making the system fit. Why XFCE and Xubuntu? I decided not to double my work. I could utilize the Ubuntu systemwhere the developers would provide the updates and kernel fixes and Iwouldn’t have to spend what little free time debugging kernel code. Ichose XFCE because its very modular. For the server system XFCE went ona diet and I removed everything that wasn’t necessary on a serversystem and added server specific tools. This could also appeal to otherWindows Server and Netware users who want to use a GUI as well as command linetools. XFCE on a client desktop is a good desktop without the overheadof GNOME or KDE. Its got good basic tools and is very simple to modify. read the rest Link More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
  2. I just found a FREE DVD conversion tool for my Nokia N82: ) I got my Nokia N82 a few days ago and wanted to put a few DVD movies on it. I did found a lot of tools but all of them aren’t free except one called Daniusoft DVD to Mobile Converter. It used to be not free, but they are doing a promotion now and giving this software for free from Feb 20th to March 5th. I downloaded a copy and it worked great for me. Here is a little description of this program copied from their website: Daniusoft DVD to Mobile Phone Converter is a powerful and very easy to use program that can convert DVD to 3GP, MP4, AVI and WMV for different cell phones such as Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Palm, LG, Pocket PC, and Sony Ericsson and so on. It also has multiple functions to edit DVD movies so you can watch them on your cell phone with the best quality. And some Key Features: Convert DVD to Mobile video formats. Merge several DVD chapters or titles into one file; Crop Video - Crop off the black edges of DVD video. Select output aspect ratio – Select an aspect ration from Keep original, Full screen, 16:9 and 4:3; Trim Video - Set the Start time and End Time to trim DVD movie length. Set Video Effect - Convert DVD with flexible video and audio settings: adjust video Brightness, Contrast, Saturation and audio volume; If you are looking for a DVD to cell phone conversion tool, why not try this free software? : ) More... 3. I'm aware of a number of algorithms for working with arbitrary-precision (i.e. bignum) numbers, like Schonhage-Strassen, Karatsuba, and Toom-Cook, (and a few others), but for a simple bignum implementation to solve a problem (I can't use IntX) which set of algorithms is the simplest? I only operations I'll need to perform are the major arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and possibly exponentiation with natural powers, but that's just multiplication on steroids), oh, and Modulo (as in, remainder-of-division). I'm after the algos which are the simplest to implement in a C-style language (pointers are okay), I'm not after the tightest BigO performance figures, this is just to prove something. And I need to have it done within a week too :) More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
  4. At least, that's what the index is telling me. I swear, it said 3.2 prior to SP1. Either that, or I came awfully close to Max's 5.9 $4K computer without even trying. http://lh6.google.com/minh.ngoc.truong/R7zOFMvtq4I/AAAAAAAAAE0/9IuWY4KIHQc/perf_index.gif?imgmax=720 More... 7. I accidently deleted my sound driver. Yes I know, I'm an idiot. My computer savvy friend looked at my computer to help me fix it, to my surprise I don't have a sound card. I bought my computer second hand and had to erase the hard drive when I got home, and reinstal the drivers with out disks(I got them off line). I've tried Gateway which is the man. of my computer,*and Dell which made the speakers. Nothing is of use... any suggestions? BTW I don't have the money to buy a sound card. If you don't have a sound card how can you have sound? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  11. http://blogs.msdn.com/xna/archive/2008/02/20/announcing-xbox-live-community-games.aspx Awesome. Submit your XNA games for peer review, and if they pass the terms of service and are appropriate enough, they end up on Xbox Live Marketplace. And you get paid for them. Self-publishing through XBLM? Yeah, that sounds awesome. This might just turn the whole hobbyist game development thing upside-down. More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  25. That's no typo, either, I do mean 20th.* It wasn't until recently I knew this, but apparently, my fine state was not allowed to use the term 'Evolution' in its science textbooks.* Now, of course, we get to use the term, but we have to have 'the theory of' just before it to avoid the delicate fundy sensibilities.
