  1. I use a virtual network for working at home as it keeps all the dev/debug gubbins away from my primary OS, which I also use for gaming. The PC is a quad-core 8GB thing with Vista Ultimate x64, so it runs the virtual environments quite nicely. At the moment, I've got a virtual server running SQL 2005 and TFS 2008 which I spin up when I need either of those, and another virtual server running VS2008 Team System for Developers. Both have got 2GB of RAM assigned. They're all running in Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1, and I remote desktop onto them to work. Would performance get better or worse if I switched to Windows Server 2008? Or would it stay roughly the same? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  4. This code : Timer RESPONSETIMER = new Timer(); RESPONSETIMER.Enabled = false; RESPONSETIMER.Interval = 4000; _ClassDoSomething*DoSomething = new _ClassDoSomething(); RESPONSETIMER.Elapsed += new ElapsedEventHandler(DoSomething._DoThis); RESPONSETIMER.Enabled = true; Is inside a windows service application. The code is also inside a timer which repeats itself every minute. The result is that the above code runs every minute. Since I use Timer RESPONSETIMER = new Timer(); and keep repeating it each minute, I am wondering will this keep eating*up memory? How do I free "RESPONSETIMER" once "_DoThis" is done? Is it possible to free the created*"RESPONSETIMER" from within itself via "_DoThis" which runs inside that timer? More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds

  15. Good googly moogly, I installed the latest winamp, and it completely screwed me on all my music.* I've paid for a large number of unknown and underground bands, but winamp decided that everything that I'd ever like to play must be illegal.... No sound, no nothing. And even worse, I couldn't listen to raw mp3/wav voicemail files that didn't even have drm. And before I get the "But, but, but, it couldn't be winamp, it must be a problem on your system"....how about you shut the hell up until you know what you speak of. Uninstall winamp. All sound works. Reinstall earlier version, all files work. Guess what, douchebagerinos, ScanIam ain't gonna buy your sh*t and after spending 2 hours trying to figure out why**EVERY F*CKING SOUND OUTPUT ON MY COMPUTER WAS BROKEN, I don't expect I'll ever, ever, EVER, give you any money. Sucks for you, since I was one of the earliest winamp adopters, and I paid a shareware amount on the software back when you still wondered if you could pay your rent. F*ck you. F*ck your programmers.* F*ck your marketers.* F*ck your middle managers.* F*ck anyone who has anything to do with you. You fail. FTL More... View All Our Microsoft Related Feeds
